Severson was making more bonehead plays in his D+6 than either Hughes and Nemec are now. My guy is missing the boat on this one.

He was a minus player in every season he played for the Devils wiry the exception of last year. Yeah it's not always the best stat to judge a player but it's pretty clear pucks have a better chance of going in his own teams net than the opposition's when Severson is on the ice.

The way Novo framed this is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Severson's next words after that if you read the article are about how great the young D are going to be for a long time and they just have to get through it, and he goes on and on about how great the forwards are.

When you look at our PK struggles and how we haven't generated clean breakouts nearly as often this year, those are both key spots that Severson and Graves contributed/excelled at. He's really not off base here.

Btw, Seversons right but it's kinda stupid that Novo is trying to junk severson as a bad guy for fans, and imply junk on our new young D that someone thinks they are struggling.
