Compared to now the Olympics sucked when it was all amateur.

I disagree. But I also think NCAA hockey is more fun to watch than NHL hockey or college football vs NFL...so that's my frame of reference.

In team sports it's different, I too love college sports as well as the World Juniors because the passion is not yet compromised by money... but to watch individual sports without the best competitors in the world, I can't see a bigger attraction in that than what is now. Plus people found ways to cheat on the amateur status, it just felt messy. Ingmar Stenmark was not allowed to ski in 1984 while the whole Soviet hockey team were 100% professionals.

^^^ This is the reason it will never go back.

I have a lot of respect for the athletes who compete in luge. What a fast and dangerous sport.

On the other end of the spectrum, I also like curling.

LOL it just doesn't excite me. Its kind of like watching Ping Pong in the summer Olympics. Turn it on say something like wow they are fast. Change Channel Fast.

I too love the Olympics. I don't see them going back to the all amateur rules because of the pressure to win.

I prefer best on best. Maybe they could make a tourney for amateurs, but I want best on best.

BILODEAU REPEATS WITH MOGULS GOLD
As expected, it came down to Canadians Alex Bilodeau and Mikael Kingsbury for the men's moguls gold medal at the Sochi Olympics. Experience beat youth. Bilodeau captured his second straight gold medal. He's a Canadian but its a nice story. USA USA USA

Personally I don't think Kingsbury's run was good enough for 4th, let alone Silver. Several breaks.

Bilodeau's run was absurdly good though, definitely deserved gold.
