He was relieved of his Assistant GM duties but still has the role of VP of legal affairs or something like that.

Let's just say he lost his Assistant GM title. He's still with the organization handling legal affairs but is no longer part of the inner circle of decision makers. Somebody had to take the fall to appease Viola and you knew WP grad Joyce wasn't going anywhere.

Rowe and Tallon both lost their GM titles but PR referred Tallon's clear demotion to President of Hockey Operations as a promotion. Tallon still holds that title but has been reinstated as GM. Rowe likely has little input as an advisor to Dale but Viola feels obligated to keep him on the payroll until his contract expires due to his loyalty.
