Way off the beaten path, but given the Devils' pp woes and the glut of young forwards in the lineup why not give someone like Cervenka a one or two-year deal while the Holtzes and Footes start working their ways into the NHL?
We have 267 guys in house that we could try out instead . If we add from outside , it’s for a heavier style player that is good defensively , plays a heavy game and can still chip in offensively - Neiderrieder

Vatanen scored against USA. My friends are asking why isnt he in the NHL. Do you guys want to open a live call to explain?

Lets go Finland!

I thought he was fine in his last year here and he didn’t miss time at all after he finally joined the team, but his injury history was tough.

Anaheim tends to dump minor guys when they have continuing injury trouble and the shoulder injury that ended his 2016-17 season in the playoffs, and gave him a late start the next season, was probably what led them to finally dump him.

He also had zero trade value at the 2020 TDL which is why the team waived him, but that was a weird one since the market was flooded with defensemen after a ton had signed 1 year deals in the depressed UFA market.

2017-18: 15 GP (ANA) out of 25 (10 games missed)
2017-18: 57 GP (NJD) out of 58 (1 game missed)
2018-19: 50 GP out of 82 (32 games missed)
2019-20: 47 GP out of 69 (22 games missed)
[equivalent of 56 GP out of 82]
2020-2021*: 30 GP (NJD) out of 30
2020-2021: 9 GP (DAL) out of 16

*Devils 1st game: 1/14/21. Sami signed: 1/7/21.
Sami added to non-NHL roster: 1/12/21.
Sami activated from Non-Roster: 2/18/21
Sami placed on waivers: 4/11/21 (picked up by DAL)
NJD played 30 games between 2/18-4/11

If USA and Finland win medal games tomorrow whose tournament would be considered more successful?

Canada or USA?

Thats a terrible penalty for CAN. Heiskanen got high sticked with his own stick, but apparently you can only review double minors? Granlund ties it on 5on3.. thats awful.

Driedger got injured in the play and Tomkins (SHL goalie) comes in.. oof.

I'm not saying he played the entire game poorly. but when he's not scoring on his own net you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be caught fecklessly slapping the puck around without any plan just for it to end up on the other team's stick in a critical moment of the game

Luke and his defensive breakdowns are going to fit nicely on this team.
If he was deadly defensively already , he would have went #1st overall instead of 4th.
He will be fine. With his skating ability amd proper coaching , more experience in different roles , he will be fine.
Quinn had/ has some issues as well but he has improved greatly. He is still a teenager for shit sake.

I'm not writing him off  Just stating a simple observation. He's pretty bad defensively right now. Another year in college hopefully helps.
