Did every single Russian athlete in the world use meldonium before this year? At least it seems so.

Pretty much calls into question any credibility they ever had. Robbed Canada of 6 straight juniors most likely. Of course IIHF would never have the balls to retroactively punish them.

I remember reading a source that said 20% of them had used meldionium recently and almost 100% of them at some point in careers

Yeah seems that Doping is massive problem into Russia.
What comes to Russia U18 WJC team they'll probably sent 1999 born players in the tournament.

Yep

U18 national coach has confirmed he is fired, his entire team is replaced with U17s. No further comments, but insiders say it's Meldonium.

Isn't that like a drug you can almost buy from a candy store in Russia? Doesn't have to be from pharmacy cos it's not a prescribed medicine or am I wrong?

I don't know about Russia, but in Latvia, you have to have prescription if you buy the stronger type of Meldonium (500), but not if lighter one (250)

I can actually now see them getting banned from Rio. I honestly didn't think this meldonium thing would have been this widespead.

Yeah i agree.
Suspension is more than earned.
If Russia gets banned for entire international sport events they cannot host even men's world championships next month.

that's a brutal news. but they can't blame no one but themselves, i mean weren't they officially warned to stop using this medicine? what a blunder. hope golubovich won't forget to call up svechnikov jr. in other case it'll be pretty hard for this tourney to hold some interest for me. or did he use that meldonium too? lol.

Such a dumb comment. Do you know at least what meldonium is? I don't think so.
It's not something to improve your capabilities, it's just to protect your heart after hard trainings. for the recovery

Meldonium it was just fabricate in Lativa/Russia/east europe.

And what will hapen know? They'll use german and american products, so more $$$ for US and west europeans companies.

But you think canadians, amercains or west-europeans athletes don't use something to recover faster? Or even other drugs to increase their capabilities?

It's not something to improve your capabilities, it's just to recover faster after hard trainings. And not push your heart to the limit.

yep, it's not a doping, but still, rules are rules, event if they are written across the ocean.

I don't know exactly who those players were.
But Finnish hockey site jatkoaika.com mentioned German Rubtsov is one of the players who's getting caught for meldonium.

The IIHF cannot punish them retroactively because Meldonium is only since the first of January 2016 on the list of banned substance.
