Just looked into the new Q.
Seems like the kind of guy who's always in the right position. I'll take that every day of the week.

It's not so much that they passed up Lemieux because I think they're pretty even. The thing that bothers me is that they need high-end offensive skill in the system and they pass on Barbashev. Should have been a no brainer. That's not to say that Quenneville is a good or bad pick (honestly don't know enough about him), but Barbashev fell right into their laps.

Well, he's not afraid to drop the gloves. Type his name into youtube and you get one goal highlight and like 20 fights lol.

We can always trade up for him but something tells me the Devils will wait for Lemiuex.

Barbashev had 68pts in 48G

Quenneville 58pts in 61G

the offensive upside doesnt appear too close atm. we'll see I guess

Barbashev
DOB Dec 14, 1995 - 6'0" and 185 lbs

Barbashev also played in the QMJHL. 27th in points and 2nd on his team in PTS.

Quenneville
DOB Apr 16, 1996 - 6'1'' and 187 lbs

Quenneville is a WHL player and 55th in points and 3rd on his team in PTS.

I wanted to pick Barbashev, but whatever Conte likes Quenneville for whatever reason.

Q is 6'1 and 195 pounds at 18. Can play wing and center, good in all 3 zones.

I like the pick.

We got the 32nd ranked player AND he's a fwd. Im totally cool. Sure the Lemiuex blood line is a fun hook to hang the hat on, but is there really anything that says Lemieux is a better prospect? Look fairly similar actually.

It was a safe pick but that doesnt make it bad. We might still grab at least Lemiuex at 41 which would be great.

If McKeown is still on the board at 41 the Devils should consider taking him or trading back, I don't see him going past Edmonton but its a great spot to be at.

If Lemieux is still there at 41, I would be SHOCKED, Period.

To trade up to the 31st pick the Devils would have to trade 41 and like the 7th (if we had one).

Some were shocked he was at 31 lol...if anything the only thing surprising about this draft was how boring it was. Not too many trades or off-the-board picks. Some teams might start going off the board early in the second round.

Funny seeing the HF board team mock draft, 0 people picked this kid and 41% picked Lemieux... and you wonder why people aren't too thrilled over this pick.

We got a 2 and a 3 just for moving down three spots in the 2nd round last year, fwiw. Columbus also had to trade a 3 to move up 6 spots in the middle of the second round. So if you want to move up to the top of the 2nd it's costing at least a third in all likelihood.

What's the projection on this kid? When could we see him in the NHL?
