We all assumed Lou would pick a relative of a former Devils player, and he did

NJ select Quenneville (my rank: 42), sees the ice well, above-average skill and works hard in all ends. His skating needs to improve.

Didn't like the pick for the sole reason we passed up Lemieux and Barbashev. BUT I do like the player. It's a safe pick of course but he's got some good upside offensively.

Barbashev had 68pts in 48G

Quenneville 58pts in 61G

the offensive upside doesnt appear too close atm. we'll see I guess

It was a safe pick but that doesnt make it bad. We might still grab at least Lemiuex at 41 which would be great.

If McKeown is still on the board at 41 the Devils should consider taking him or trading back, I don't see him going past Edmonton but its a great spot to be at.

To be fair, that's comparing a stat line from the Q vs the WHL.

fair enough I guess. but theres really no question that the higher offensive upside belongs to the Russian. pretty much any scout report or ranking would likely agree. this feels like another safety pick. how long do you go never taking risks

Solid pick. The more I think of it we have a Lemieux in Matteau already. All of the high end talent was basically gone by the time the Devils picked. Judging from the draft thread some of you need to take a step back from the ledge. It's a 30th pick in a fairly weak draft. What honestly were you expecting?

Lemieux was ranked 31st... Quenneville 32....

Well the point it, the people who wanted a skilled offensive guy wanted Barbashev, and the people who wanted two-way, defensively responsible, proto-Devils wanted Lemeuix. which I dont blame either camp for. but nobody here was calling for Quenneville

Lemieux isnt exactly a two way player. More of a power forward

ive read alot about him being solid at both ends. but yeah I think its probably a mixture of those descriptions. you get my point though

"He will definitely need to work on his foot speed"

I don't mind the pick but this team needs to do something to address the lack of speed at some point.
