I've been going to NHL drafts and following them for years, my first was in Montreal in 81, the Leafs took Jim Benning now the Head Scout for the Bruins. That was the year the Stastny's defected and they arrived at the Queen Elizabeth. At the 89 draft in Minnesota when the Leafs took the Bellville three, saw Mats Sundin there when he had all his hair. So I think it's quite possible that I've either attended NHL drafts or followed them before you were Born.

You could also watch porn all day to but that still wont make you a genius in the sack slick. Take the leaf hate with you on the way out.

Is this guy a bust yet?

Depends who you ask.

According to some it was before he was drafted.

Most other teams fans, the moment his name was announced at the draft.

Can't blame them though....... What's he done since being drafted. ;)

So your a Blue Jacket fan. Didn't I tell you Horvat was the best three zone player in the draft.

From majority of ur comments, it doesn't sound u are a Leafs fan at all because u like and say everything opposite to what Leafs do no matter how positive something turns out.

Speak for yourself. If you can't replicate what you see, that's your problem. Don't bring others down with you with this generalization :p:

One can learn a tremendous amount from observation in any area. Studies support this, slick.

Above PPG, and he's been battling injuries.

For a guy that isn't supposed to be a pure offensive guy, he hasn't been bad this year.

Hopefully he comes back healthy and starts producing a bit more

you never take a defence first player in the 1st round....NEVER!!

Defensive player are very important. If we had a Gauthier type player in our serie vs. the Bruins (Gauthier potential obviously), we may have win it.

With all the offensive forward that we have, a real high-end quality defensively guy like Gauthier is a very good pick.

Exactly. Then you can pair up him and Mcclement , and a Bolland and Kulemin. For when games are on the line, and you got 2 great shutdown pairs

He was the second or third quickest player, has size, best defensive forward, best FO% of rookie c in the Q.

Was asked to play in R by Crosby because obviously people there saw potential.

Here, clearly a bust 2nd yr Jr not 10 PPG way to go Leafs fans.

Quite a big difference in 1 draft position.

Red Wings Mantha has 43 points in 17 QMJHL games.

20 goals, more than Gauthier has points.

Completely misleading. Although they were the same draft year Mantha born in September of 94, one of the oldest players in the draft. Gauthier born in April of 95.

Mantha is in his 4th Q season while Gauthier is in his 2nd. That's not purely a skill gap, it's largely developmental.

Give the kid a chance
