Has played at least 135 games in 11 of his last 12 seasons. Sneakily put up 5.1 WAR, 2.6 and 2.1 seasons with 20+ HRs and 70+ RBIs in his last 3 years with good base running and good defense in the corner OF positions. A steal for 1 year but I'm really underwhelmed of this is all we do in the OF. Bats left and has a career .340 obp... But 36 is still 36.

Sign Granderson a few hours after McCutchen is traded makes me think they lost out on him.

I think your right on McCutchen. This was a plan b on the one year deal. Same as McCutchen.

There is really no risk in Granderson at 5 million. Even if he falls off a cliff because of age there really wouldn't be much lost and if he just does what he did last season then we have surplus value.

Well if Heyman and Davidi are right and they are still looking for another OF then you have to think Pearce and/or Zeke is gone. Plus easier to find someone to hit LHP if they still want to platoon granderson.

Ideally, they cut loose Zeke which gives them roughly $17M and I think that’s enough to get Cain brought in. If they wanted to, they could even backload the contract slightly and give themselves an extra few million for a cheap starter.

But as mentioned above, ideally you can move Morales.
