Morrissey with 2 assists near the end of the second. 6 points in 3 games minus a period now.

Hellebuyck with a rough start to the game tonight but then shuts the door the rest of the way and allows nothing in the shootout. Stopped 42 of 45.

He only allowed 1 goal in the 1st. Was it a softie?

Edit: found this in the twitter feed. Doesn't sound like he had a rough start.

@IceCapsAHL: Hellebuyck standing on his head early. Shots 7-1 Binghamton.

@IceCapsAHL: 1-0 Senators. Have to tip the cap to Camper there for that beauty shot.

Hellebuyck stops 42/45 (0.933) through regulation and OT, and then 6/6 in a shootout for the win. #Helleclutch :handclap:

Nah, just strictly stats wise. He was <.800 after half the game. Then he wasn't.:D

When I looked in he had let in 3 of 14 I believe. Then shut the door the rest of the way.

Morrissey finishes with 2A and first star.
Blomqvist with 1A so far.
Comrie has stopped 26 of 27 near the end of the second period :help:

Comrie faced 57 in his last game. #wacky

Hard to argue that Comrie has not been the best CHL goalie over the past couple of seasons, but he still probably won't be selected for Team Canada in the WJHC. That will go to Zach ("Mr. Clutch") Fucale and Jarry. Why bother waiting to name the team if performance through the season doesn't matter?

Will Lodge be AHL eligible next year? (or playoffs this year?)

He hasn't been signed yet. If he doesn't get an ELC, I doubt he goes to the Ice Caps for the playoffs (assuming they qualify)

He'll be 20 in March so he's old enough for the AHL next season. If he's not signed he'll go back into the draft ala Yuen Sutter.

Copp looks like he has potential and good size, how come it took till the 4th round for someone to pick him?

On his second (?) year of eligibility, no less!

(I believe the answer--in part--is that he was still playing football at a high level and had not yet committed to hockey full time.)

Morrissey looks two steps ahead of everyone, another one of those AHL special acceptance players

Brandon Watts @_BrandonWatts
Again I repeat! Josh Morrissey doesn't belong in junior.

Short answers :

He was a dual sport athlete , set Michigan HS single game passing record as a QB with over 500 yards. Separated his shoulder his senior year which curtailed both sports .

USNDT typically keeps a small roster , most players/parents aren't interested in being the 13,14 th forward as they get little playing time , but since Copp is an Ann Arbour native and was commited to football as well , he was ok with that and the program also made an exception to allow him to be a dual sport athlete.

He is now listed as 6-2 210 , that pairs very well with his plus skating and pace that he plays the game at. Scored a really nice sh goal on a break away last week and also made a sweet pass from behind the net to set up another goal. Plays a very strong 200 foot game and plays in all situations.

I like Copp because I think off all the great headline/puns that will appear when he's ready to make the Jets.

"Copp make his case to stay with the Jets" as one potential gem. I also don't think Copp will get along with Gary Lawless

Begs the question -- why was he sent back to Jr when we are desperate for LHD, even before Enstrom went down

He could have been a "Jets" draft pick in 2 different sports!

I'm not sure if it was noted or not, but Kraskovsky earned a call up into the KHL this morning and played 10:38.

Thirteen shifts.
Zero shots on goal.
Three blocked shots.

He also played wing instead of centre.
