I'm guessing since he's in the AHL and he's being traded for futures its allowed.

I could be mistaken but I believe its the deadline for playoff eligibility.

If Aho was injured for a month I think Carolina could technically acquire Suter to plug the hole, he just couldn't suit up in playoffs.
