I don't know off anything suggesting Nylander isn't likely taking the best medical advice available combined the consultation with his coaching staff to make the best rational decision possible game to game. It seems like a likely scenario.

But I guess it could be he doesn't feel like playing?

Can he go on the ice and skate in straight lines at 50% speed? Almost certainly. Doesn’t mean he can twist and turn with the puck on his stick at anything approaching full speed or get shots on net with any power.

If his speed, agility, puck handling, and/or shooting isn’t at NHL level because of a back injury or something like that, what is the point in playing him? What job is he going to do for us on the ice other than collecting the tough guy participation medal?

You can simultaneously feel “fine” enough for casual practice work without being fine enough to be a useful contributor in a tight playoff game.

Three games in a row Nylander is a possibility depending on how he feels. Nylander would not be a possibility if the medical staff would not clear him.

I am taking it at face value and assuming the decision is up to Nylander, as Keefe has been suggesting for 3 games in a row.

It's a possibility for today - until the medical staff says no for today.

Next game it's a possibility - until the medical staff says no.

It's called 'day-to-day' - I thought everyone understood that concept.

In non-socialist sports leagues where big market teams are allowed to thrive instead of being forced to support the minnows this is possible. You should be able to tear up an athlete's contract for underperforming or if they are made of glass.

Far as I know only football has non-guaranteed contracts, and the NFL is the most socialist sport league there is.

Only to not play at the most important time of the year.

His is still fresh in the package.

Those videos of him practicing certainly aren't doing him any favours. I know I've never seen anything like this before. I really hope I never see anything like it again.

Trading Nylander in the offseason would be a good way of ensuring that.

In some ways it was both easier and more depressing to watch the team back then because your expectations were in the toilet. But the assortment of players that got trotted out game after game was just dreadful.

Just the fact that no one in the media has reported what the deal is with Nylander's injury should highlight the crisis in the hockey media today.

Miss the days when the media's job was to find out the truth and report it to the world. Don't for a second think that most in the media knows what is going on, but they are servants to whatever the team and players want so they don't do their job.

For real. The speculation and the unfounded opinions people have formed are disgusting and toxic. Find another way to deal with your playoff frustrations.

Nylander has always indicated excitement and awareness of the importance of the playoffs. None of his previous playoff experiences suggest he wouldn't want to play with his team. Numerous references exist to him having a competitive streak.

Say what you want about his past, occasional aversion to physical contact, but there is absolutely no indication that he himself does not want to be playing right now. And we are not privy to what the doctors and medical staff are telling him and the coaching staff about his fitness to play.

Blame Treliving if you are mad we don't have more information.
