Brian Lawton mentioned during the NHL draft show to not be surprised to see Nylander moved so that the Leafs could have a more balanced lineup. He said it makes the most sense. Will this be for a Dumba type of move or elite prospect/picks to free up the money for Pietrangelo. I've said all along I believe Pie will sign with the Leafs.

Don't think Nylander gets you Dumba at this point, with everything we've heard. So probably futures for cap space for Pietrangelo.

Brian Lawton also said the Leafs were a couple tweaks away from winning the Cup. I would not listen to Brian Lawton.

Why you gotta do us like that :'(

If we trade Nylander for Dumba I will be pissed.

I thought Russo said the offers on Dumba were underwhelming?

Don't worry, like I said, Nylander doesn't get you Dumba.

Considering that about 20 teams could've an internal cap for $70,000,000 or less, How many teams would even trade for William Nylander? With a flat cap for the next 3 years or so not sure if many teams are looking at taking on nearly $7,000,000 in cap.

Probably quite a few, to be honest.

They are when half his salary has already been paid. It makes the deal even more valuable to teams with internal caps

Plenty. He only makes 2.5M in salary for this year due to his signing bonus already paid, with 6M in salary due the other 3 years of his deal.

He'd be a very attractive target for a team with an internal cap.

We heard that Guerin doesn't like any of them enough to pull the trigger, which makes sense if you believe he's a 45-55 point RD.

Meanwhile, we got confirmation after the Kapanen trade that offers for Nylander were B players and grab bag deals, which Dumba is more valuable than.

There’s your problem.

I think this is the right long term move for Toronto to address its D as I think Nylander would get a good return. But I doubt they will do it this year as I think the GM still thinks he can make the high cap on four forwards work.
