He'll never make it in the NCAA, he's too small
Wins Hobey Baker putting up the best ppg since Kariya
He'll never make it in the NHL, he's too small
Calder finalist
He'll never crack top 10 in scoring, he's too small
Cracks top 10 in scoring
That was a fluke he'll never do it again, he's too small
Does it again hitting 99pts and finishing 4th in Hart voting
Lightning in a bottle, career year one off, he's too small
40G and 115pts, likely Hart finalist
Was a contract year, so for reasons it doesn't count. For sure won't be a HoFer. Still too small
.................

You would think people would have learned to stop doubting the kid by now. Guess not.

Assuming he gets an All-Star team spot this year, he'd probably need another two and/or big time hardware

The door is open, he just needs to put in the time and check a few key boxes. He should be top 3 in the Hart this year and that will help, but he needs some sort of trophy. I think he has the best shot a Conn Smythe (assuming he doesn't win the Hart this year), the competition for that trophy is smaller and his team has a legit shot to win this year. You need a lot of stuff to go right to win a Hart, I could be wrong but I don't see him every winning an Art Ross or Rocket.

I'm shocked that people don't consider a guy who is comfortably PPG in his first 600 Games and has a Peak of 115 Points to at least be on PACE for the hall of fame.

People on the Main Board really seem to assume the HHOF is as strict as the BHOF when it sure as f***ing heck isn't.

Gaudreau is in, especially if he keeps playing like this and not like he did in 2020.

I admit I was a Johnny doubter and while I think he might very well be on a HHOF track his playoff resume is his weakest point and his possession numbers (albeit in only 2 games so far) seems to be playing to the "he just disappears in the playoffs" narrative.

Seems pretty unlikely unless he keeps this up for a long time or starts winning trophies

Wiry little guys like Gaudreau usually age pretty well. No history of concussions or knee injuries. I think he has another 700 points in him, so yes.

HHOF cases aren't simply about regular season points. Pierre Turgeon got boatloads of them. Bernie Nicholls too.

Fact that he doesn't have an injury history is great for his longevity, if he wants to play forever, but it could also be indicative of someone who shies away from contact and doesn't want to go to the dirty areas.

Because he isn't. 1,000 points isn't a guaranteed induction. There are 21 players eligible for the Hall who have 1000+ points and aren't in.

Unless he adds a defensive game or some individual awards, he isn't getting in.

See: Theo Fleury, Pierre Turgeon,

I voted no.

It's not that Gaudreau doesn't have the talent to make it, he does. But playing in Columbus, Gaudreau will not likely hit another 100 point season, and he's not in a strong hockey market anymore. This will definitely play at the ballot.

Yeah, I think the issue with Gaudreau is that he was too inconsistent and doesn't have enough high level seasons

He has 3 top 10 point finishes and each one was 3 years apart. Between 2018 and 2021 (his 2 best years) he was below a PPG, and that's when league scoring was pretty high already.

Of course, there's still time for a career resurgence. But it becomes more unlikely with each passing year, and he'll need at least 2 seasons of elite production to have a legitimate chance imo.

Can you repeat the question?

At least one poster is now thinking of Malcolm in the Middle, and you are welcome.

Also- no. Ultimate compiler of no winning consequence if he does make it.
