Which undrafted players will the Oilers invite to camp?

Kind of curious who they will invite on a tryout this year. Is there any limit and if undrafted can they still sign the kid. I think he has to be over 18 to be signed else he goes back into the draft?

Maybe they an uncover some gems as there are bound to be good players to be had for almost free at this stage.

They should invite Sawchenko.

EDIT: Good for Nashville in getting him invited.

They always invite a few. I wouldn't be surprised to see Leveille back. He had a good camp last year and a pretty solid season.

Our centre prospect depth is pretty bad. I'd imagine we'll invite a few, and at least one goalie.

Nick Betz was a guy I was watching. He's headed to the Rangers camp though.

*Quickly looks at list of undrafted members of the Oil Kings roster.*

I know you said this sarcastically, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Aaron Irving if he's not too senior at it. Nashville didn't sign him and he went back thru the draft with no takers. We need RHD depth on the farm.

They should invite Sawchenko.

He's headed to Nashville's.

i would be. Irving just isn't that good and i'd be surprised if he ever played a game in the NHL. the Oilers shouldn't bother with him, though perhaps as an AHLer i could see?

It'd be cool if they threw an invite to Marcus McIvor. He's a right shot defenseman who was a workhorse for the North Bay Battalion in junior. He graduated last year and played for the UNB Varsity Reds this year but got injured pretty early on. For the last two seasons of his junior career he finished in the coaches poll for best defensive defenseman, top PKer, best shot-blocker, etc. His skating was always a bit iffy, which is probably what held him back, but the guy was always a competitor.

Assuming this is related to the Development Camp that will likely be held this week, here is a list of players I assume will be there that are Oilers prospects already:

Goalies
Nick Ellis(Providence, NCAA)
Zach Nagelvoort(Michigan, NCAA)
Miroslav Svoboda(Trinec, Czech)
Dylan Wells(Peterborough, OHL)

Defensemen
Ethan Bear(Seattle, WHL)
Filip Berglund(Farjestad J20, SweJ20)
Matthew Cairns(Georgetown, OJHL)
Vincent Desharnais(Providence, NCAA)
Caleb Jones(Portland, WHL)
William Lagesson(UMass Amherst, NCAA)
John Marino(Tri-City, USHL)
Markus Niemelainen(Saginaw, OHL)

Forwards
Tyler Benson(Vancouver, WHL)
Drake Caggiula(North Dakota, NCAA)
Evan Campbell(UMAss Lowell, NCAA)
Graham McPhee(USNTDP)
Aidan Muir(Western Michigan, NCAA)
Jesse Puljujarvi(Karpat, Liiga)
Aapeli Rasanen(Tappara J20, JrA Liiga)
Patrick Russell(St. Cloud State, NCAA)
Jere Sallinen(Jokerit, KHL)
Tyler Vesel(Nebraska-Omaha, NCAA)

Last year they brought 17 forwards, 10 defensemen and 4 goalies, so I'd imagine they go for something close to that again. My list has 9F, 8D and 4G; so I'd imagine they invite quite a few forwards and a few DMen. I'd like to see them invite Bonnyville Pontiacs D Brinson Pasichnuk, put up 65 points in 52 games in the AJHL last year to go along with 161PIM. Stat line is super interesting and he's headed to Arizona State next year, might be a chance to get a leg up on a guy who could be an interesting overage pick next June.

Also worth noting that in one of the videos posted on OilersTV Gazzolla says that medicals for this camp are scheduled for July 2, so I'd imagine we get the full list of invites tomorrow sometime. Good chance Puljujarvi won't skate at this either since he's recovering from surgery still.

They should invite Sawchenko.

He's going to Nashville's by the looks of it.

Edit: Whoops, I see that's already been mentioned.

Some of the top-ranked CSS players include Simon Stransky, Ben Gleason, Brayden Burke, Jeff de Wit, Gabriel Sylvestre, Brogan O'Brien, Ondrej Kachyna, Ondrej Vala, Kyle Maksimovich, Egor Babenko.

Would it be wrong to assume Brinson Pasichnuk since they love bringing Albertans?

Simon Stransky is a guy who hasn't been invited anywhere and went undrafted.

LW plays with Prince Albert. Czech import. More of a playmaker. Get a kind of a Hemsky vibe from him, he's creative but a little spacey.

Or Alan Nevermind

It's Alan Alphabet

I would like to see them bring Dylan Coghlan from Tri-City. Big rugged defender with offensive upside.

The forward would be Luke Coleman. Very young. Sept birthday I believe. Blossoming power forward will likely take a huge step forward for the PA Raiders this year. Also Maxime Fortier of Halifax. He's a skilled forward who led his Q team in scoring, and most fans of that team will tell you he was a better player than Somppi, who was drafted.

If Sawchenko is already going to Nashville's camp, I believe Antoine Samuel from Baie Comeau would be an excellent goaltending choice.

Does anyone know how this works exactly? Is there a limit to the invites a team can have? Once one team has invited a player can another team invite that same player and the player chooses? Is this part of the CBA and if so does anyone know what section. I would be interested to read it.....Thanks.

Christoffer, platzer, Betker, Chase could return. I'd like to see slep, yak2 and Paigin there too. There were 22 and 21 year Olds last year.

Oh and Patrik Russell.

They usually don't bring guys who were in the AHL the previousyear to the summer camp, but some will be at rookie camp/Penticton tourney. Forgot about Russell though, good call.
