Quebec sells out junior games, 18000+ in. Pretty sure they'd support an NHL team, with the new arena.
While that would be great for me personally for selfish reasons, I’m also too pragmatic to suggest the 82nd largest metro as a viable NHL city. Des Moines is lucky to be a AAA minor league city IMO.DANG, I woulda bet anything your answer would be: "Another city" and proposed Des Moines. But I guess there's something to be said for protecting your interests by keeping your ticket prices down.
Quebec city supported the Nordiques and would do so again. Population is not always the single important thing.or perhaps because Quebec City has a population on par with places like Oxnard California, New Haven Connecticut, and McAllen Texas(and look how much another similarly sized Canadian city in Winnipeg has been struggling already now that they've been around more than a few years even with a team that often makes the Playoffs) and because the Leafs would need to be okay with a team being placed in Hamilton which they clearly wouldn't be
I mean Texas getting a second team is not that much different that a third team in FLSerious answer is Houston, but part of me wants to see Florida get a third team just to watch the world burn.
Could Key West be a Western Conference city?I mean Texas getting a second team is not that much different that a third team in FL

I agree on Salt lake but I really miss the Nordiques and the battle of Quebec from the 80s.Salt lake city needs to be added to that list. There's been work done on that already.
Selfishly I would love to see Quebec bc I think this kind of emergency is their best chance to land a team again, but I think it's slc or Houston if fertitta can get the team on the cheap bc of the current situation and the leagues desire to be in major markets like Houston.
I've also been baffled by the SLC rumors. In addition to what you said, the Delta Center isn't a good fit for hockey. Can someone explain why Salt Lake City makes sense? Seems like a really good chance to fail, just like Phoenix. Houston has tons of money, business, and people. It is the natural choice and I can't see how SLC would be a better candidate.
From a business perspective, Quebec City just doesn't make sense. Not too mention they would become the least desirable place for free agents to sign.
