Can't believe we've actually rebuilt on top of the original rebuild.

First generation rebuild:
-Eberle
-Hall
-Nuge
-Yak

Second generation rebuild:
-Nurse
-Draisaitl
-McDavid
-Puljujarvi

Third generation rebuild? Oh god no.

actually, first generation was Gagner, Cogliano, Nilsson, Petry, Peckham, Dubnyk

I don't think people realize how good Pulj actually is... He's a complete player, and honestly I would say he could surpass Hall/Ebs as he grows into his prime. Even if he doesn't place as a top 5 or 10 scorer ever, he still brings dimensions to our game that will greatly benefit our team and the players around him. He will make an impact next year.

I guess so but I don't actually think it was a true rebuild with those guys, more of a "retool generation". I was a big fan during that timeframe and that was the sense I got.

I'm glad this time around, they were able to get players with size and strong 2-way games in McDavid, Puljujarvi, Draisaitl, and Nurse. I think generation 2 rebuild boys will be the ones to lead us to the promise land with the generation 1 boys being a very good compliment to them, if not good trading chips. :yo:

Id rather be a drama queen than a mindless lemming.

If you look at this team last 5 years they have failed to address the defense even remotely.

They usually pick up the sekeras ferences and faynes of the world that no one deems important enough to lock up at all cost.

If they want an actual dman that will come through a trade for a hall or Eberle etc.

It hasn't happened before and I don't see anything getting done now except demers overpay and acquisition of non suter Minny dman.

Ie another garbage year.

You can't compare MacTavish's past incompetence with Chiarelli's two week off season. Sekera was the best available free agent d-man last year and he got the job done. If he wasn't signed you'd be here complaining that we need a top 4 left hand d-man as well. Highly touted free agents hit the market all the time. Or are Stamkos, Lucic, Ericksson, etc all garbage players that no team wants as well?

What is your connection to the team? For all we know other GM's can be offering half the worth on the players you suggested in Hall and Eberle. Chiarelli has already stated that he's not selling low and making a trade just for the sake of making a trade. You also don't gut half of your roster to fill a single hole because then you are basically in the same spot as before.

It's summer time. Go outside and relax. Hermitting in front of a computer whining about nothing getting done when only 10% of the off season has past is ridiculous.

A top 6 of
Lucic - McDavid - Puljujarvi
Hall - Drai - Eberle

Would be stellar. Move out Yakupov, RNH and Pouliot.

Easier said then done. I doubt there's many teams smashing down the door to pick up a bust in Yakupov and a 4 million dollar left wing that's inconsistent and takes dumb offensive zone penalties.

Coyle is a 30-40 point right shot center/winger and Dumba is a bottom pairing or second pairing pp specialist. That's great value.

And Nashville does it for forward help and so they don't lose Ellis in expansion

What's the appeal in Dumba? He's a bottom pairing PP guy. Why not shoot for something bigger in Shattenkirk who both fills the need on the PP and the top pairing hole? We have too many bottom pairing guys as it is and Chiarelli stated today that he was going to be talking to Gryba this week which would indicate that spot is taken if an extension is reached.

Pouliot-RNH-Yak could be our 12.5M 3rd scoring line.

45M on forwards.. 6M on G
Gives us 20M for defense.

Klefa, Sekera,Davidson,Nurse 12M
Gives us 8M for the other 3.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pouliot on the 3rd line next year. It would give us depth for once as he's able to move up if necessary. However, I would rather see Kassian on that 3rd line right wing and a center better suited for a 3rd line role then RNH.

Ultimately, I really don't like penciling in anyone at this point in time because there are so many question marks that can't be answered until the defense is determined.

Like every year, once the big fish fee agents that half the league are trying to court get signed then the teams that don't win that battle will start looking at the next tier where guys like RNH and Eberle fall. That's when a trade will happen for a d-man if it's to be done.

Don't think Nurse is that great.

If he's on the roster this team hasn't learned a thing.

I don't agree with you a player like him Hall, RNH were all ready. They did not rush Eberle and Nurse went back to the CHL for two seasons.

Detroits GM even stated that if he would of drafted these players they would of started in the NHL because of how good they are

Yaks first year everyone was happy that was more of a coach thing

Chia should trade nuge and eberle for defensemen this offseason. If he is going to aquire legit 1st pair D they are going to be on big money multi year deals either already or in a year. Hes got to budget for drai and mcdavid raises in 1 and 2 seasons so nuge and ebs money will be shipped out anyway. Hall/Drai and mcdavid/puljarvi are the offense pairings moving forward. Add the 2017 first too if needed. It will be a waste of good entry level deals to just sit on it again for another offseason.

If I was Chia, I would sign either Brower or Eriksson and trade one of Ebs and Yak for a RHD. I think our LW side if covered as well as C position now just need better RW with Yak or Ebs out, I think either Brower or Eriksson will sign here to shelter Pulujarvi.

Another thing I was think about is Nikita Popugaev of Moose Jaw. 6'4" RW could you imagine

Hall-McDavid-Brower/Eriksson
Pouliot - Drai/Nuge - Pulju (sheltered minutes)
Maroon - Drai/Nuge- Popugaev.

I think thats not bad at all. Or they can draft Cal Foote RHD shutdown type too early to tell but its something to think about.
