We have to like our fwd group
Maroon, McD, Eberle
Hall, LD, Yak
Pouliot, RNH, Puljujarvi
Hendricks, Letestu, Kassian

Have to like that can roll 4 lines no problem with, speed, skill and size
Klefbom,?
Sekera, Fayne
Davidson,?

Not so good at all, what can we do?
Chia talked about stop gaps
Chia stated asking price is too high for dmen
When teams want Hall for a Faulk or Hammonic or RNH for Brodin or Dumba I am glad he doesn't do these trades.

So what about players like Wideman(puck mover run a power play has one year on his contract
Hamhuis on a two year deal
Demers but can't see paying over 4-4.5
Or is there other dmen that we won't have to throw away our assets
Obviously all these crazy deals about EDM paying a crazy price is not going to happen.

Just want to hear your opinions or any rumours your hearing about

I think our only option left is the offer sheet route. My targets would be:

H. Lindholm (legit #1 guy)
S. Jones (RHD...top pairing potential)

Figure out which team would have toughest time matching and target there player and then pray they don't match.

If BUF goes crazy and signs Stamkos to $12 mil per year than I'd try to offer sheet Risto.

If you get one of those guys than move Yak+ for Severson. Circle back to Faulk and Hamonic and hope the prices come down.

OP I also like your idea of Hamhuis. Wideman if he is super cheap isn't a bad option. We still need a legit top pairing guy though so I'd still go the offer sheet route I mentioned above.

After that lets hope some teams get desperate for forward help after striking out on July 1 and we can move Nuge or Ebs for that Dman

Would you guys move a 3rd for Wideman nice 3rd pairing that could move the puck and play on the power play, two things this team really needs

I wonder if we got a positive vibe from the Demers camp today and thats why Pete has not made a trade.

Hall - Nuge - Eberle
Maroon - McDavid - Yakupov
Pouliot - Draisaitl - PULJUJARVI
Hendricks - Letestu - Kassian
Lander/Pakarinen

Klefbom - DEMERS
Sekera - Fayne
Reinhart - Davidson

That D is not good enough!

Forwards:

Hall Drai Puljujarvi
Maroon McDavid Eberle
Pouliot RNH Yak
Hendricks-Testtube-Kassian
Caligula

Move out Korpse to a team trying to hit the cap floor. Ideally we'd have a vet RW on that Drai-Hall line instead of the Finn. Okposo or Ericksson would be ideal, but would prefer a cheaper option. Stempniak?

D: not such a good scene, obviously.

Sign Demers, hold our nose and trade for Brodin or Severson? Or target an LHD and move someone over to the right side?

Klef-Demers
Sekera- Brodin/Severson
Davidson-Fayne

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm sick of hearing we have to over pay for defenseman.

Guess what if everyone is demanding "over payments" and nothing is getting done without it then it's not am overpayment.... Its the going market price.

Wideman should cost less than a 3rd. He's a cap dump for the Flames. Stauffer was floating Korpikoski for Wideman as likely all week

Maybe Barrie sakes lose again....

Chia might try again for Subban....I guess we'll find out in a few weeks what happens for our D

This teams inability to address the D is beyond embarrassing.

This being the start of the offseason a little bit of patience may be required. We got a gift in Pool party so it definitely gives us more options to acquire D.

Frustrating as hell but I don't want to see a RNH for Brodin trade either.

It's like we're stuck in no mans land, our available assets are too good to trade for the mid tier D men but not good enough for the top tier.

While Chiarelli's stubbornness in the face of adversity is commendable, there are no favours in this business.

No Oilers fan wants him to make a bad deal, but the fact remains that the Oilers need a quality defenseman.

Chiarelli is going to have to get creative. Starting the season with Fayne as the top RHD is not an acceptable outcome.

I'm sure we can go after less ideal D.

M. Staal should be available for super cheap. Not sure he'd waive for us but him and Wideman should be available for cheap cost

Still feel there's a good chance they sign Demers. Is it enough? Of course not. Certainly would help the transition game though.

Firmly believe the Nuge+ Package for a dman is the option we should go with. And I'm glad that one of the 6m players haven't been forced for a pp specialist like most have hoped for. hoping he's targeting to get a top 3 point producing minute eating dman coming back.

Definitely is annoying that it is taking forever to fix that d corps. For years the plan was to draft BPA and then trade one of those assets for some d help. Well that still hasn't happened and we are still in the basement lol.

Not panicking yet as its still June. Still have some moves on July 1st.

Stauffer and Spector said the price for Subban was (on his show Friday):

Drai + Klef/Nurse + 4th overall pick + Yak + 2017 1st

Now that price seems crazy...

I like the idea of Klein....

Klein? RHD, makes $3M two more years. Is he any good? What would the price be?

He is an excellent second pairing guy. Unfortunately, New York cannot move him under any circumstances.

New York desperately needs Kleins contract/minutes.

Edit: One caveat, New York can move him for a guy who can play Klein's minutes for less money. In fact, they will give up a lot to do so.

Edit 2: A more realistic target is Daniel Girardi. His play has fallen off, he is overpaid, and New York is trying to move him. That said, he is a former top-pairing RHD. If OIlers had reason to believe he could turn it around...well...the Rangers might add something to get him off the team.
