I'd be interested to see if they could actually work as a line considering all 3 like to have the puck.

Waiver exempt players are climbing a uphill battle against these vets we dont want or need. They will be a cap drag and quality of play drag until Lou manages to move them. Not looking good for even Marner at this point because of it too.

If these guys take roster spots we might as well just tank it out again and load up the Marlies again for christ sake. Its a problem.

I think it's safe to say that Babcock will start with this template:

Komarov - Kadri - xxx
JVR - Bozak - xxx
Xxx - Matthews - Nylander
Xxx - Laich - xxx

If Marner makes the team, its almost certainly going to be on a vet line. The 3rd player on Matthews/Nylander line will be a vet.

I am not saying this is my line setup, but my guess at Babcock's. I know some people around here will cry about it, but there is a good chance Martin plays with Matthews/Nylander.

The 4th line in my opinion will be the biggest wildcard and my best guess is a vet line. That being said would like to see Hyman/Sosh and Brown make it but I have a feeling its one of the three to start the season.

Once again, this is a guess at the actual line up not my personal make up.

I completely agree with this. I think the third line especially is a lock to at least start the season. This is how I guess Babcock does it:

Komarov - Kadri - Brown
JVR - Bozak - Marner
Martin - Matthews - Nylander
Greening - Laich - Michalek

Scratches: Leivo, Lupul

Sent down: Sosh, Hyman, Rychel

With an outside possibility that if Lupul does play then Brown is sent down or scratched and Lupul plays on Kadri's wing. Once the vets are shipped or their contracts are up the rest of the kids take their spots.

Edit: Just realized this line is missing Holland. There really is a log jam of NHLers who are under contract.

Think Babcock is going to try out Martin-Matthews-Nylander in preseason (based on the fact hes stated that he'll try Matthews and Nylander together, and i think Martin was brought in for kid protection). Which just so happens to also make an "MnM" line lol (a less skilled MnM line for sure though)

Most of the lines each have a rookie or close to a rookie on them with the exception of the third. I placed Bozak with JVR because they have proven to have better chemistry and I believe that Bozak's trade value will be boosted by play.

Defensively each pairing has a righty and a lefty as Babcock prefers. May not be appropriate to drop Zaitsev on the first pairing but we can always move Marincin up as that pairing with Rielly did really well last year.
