First off, the biggest news of the week comes from within the media shaking college football to it's very foundation. Next year, none other than the Bear is reportedly making the jump from ESPN to Fox and is expected to join the Big Noon Kickoff. Which means @PanthersPens62 is going to have to start watching both shows while filing his reports and telling us which games the Bear will be betting on so no one else has to.

Championship Week is giving us 11 games and 10 conference championships. The first game will be Friday afternoon, as Buffalo hosts Akron in a makeup game from a few weeks ago when their scheduled matchup was snowed out.

The Conference-USA Championship game has UTSA hosting North Texas on Friday.

Then we get down to real business:

One of the two big ones: the Pac-12 Championship from Las Vegas features a revenge game, as #4 USC looks to book their ticket to the College Football Playoff for the first time, but they will have to avenge their loss to #11 Utah to do it. Utah won the first matchup 43-42 by going for 2 on a late touchdown.

ESPN has their big one at noon on Saturday at Dallas in the Big 12 Championship, as #3 TCU probably still has to win even though they are undefeated, and be the first school from the Big 12 to not be Oklahoma to make it to the College Football Playoff. They play #10 Kansas State, who had a 28-10 lead in TCU before TCU ran off 4 touchdowns in a row to win 38-28.

If either TCU or USC slip up, #5 Ohio State is in position to backdoor into the playoffs

Other Group of Five Championships:
Toledo @ Ohio for the MAC Championship
Coastal Carolina is at Troy for the Sun Belt Championship
#22 UCF @ #18 Tulane in the American Championship and a trip to the New Year's Six.
Fresno State is at Boise State for the Mountain West Championship, which is on Fox.

The least relevant of the of the Power 5 Championships comes from the ACC, #9 Clemson plays #23 North Carolina in Charlotte, the winner goes to the Orange Bowl on December 30 to probably play the UCF/Tulane winner.

CBS airs their final SEC Championship Game, #1 Georgia plays #14 LSU, the latter of whom got turfed last week by Texas A&M and are now out of the CFP mix. Georgia almost definitely can withstand a loss, but a win assures that they will play in the Peach Bowl as the #1 team cannot be at a geographical disadvantage.

#2 Michigan also can likely withstand a loss, hosting unranked Purdue in the Big Ten Championship in prime time on Fox. A 2 vs 3 in the playoff likely ends up at the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Eve. Michigan will be without Blake Corum as a knee injury has sidelined him for the season.

I was stunned & saddened to read that news about my man Bear. I have no idea how I will handle the change at this point, but if this also marks the end of Corso I may give BNK on Fox a try.

As for the games.....just give me chaos otherwise I have little interest in these games this weekend.

Hoping the rematch between USC and Utah has a similar suspense at the end as the first meeting

TD Utes from their own 43 on a 3rd and 19

The Utes have scored last 21 points in the game

The Utes did the right thing and scheduled a tough nonconference game on the road and they might be out of the CFP because of it. Like both of these teams though.

What a huge hit, wow.

I don't think that they get in with 2 losses, but they'd be the highest ranked 2-loss team.

And while going cross country to play in the Swamp is admirable, they lost to a very mediocre Florida squad. The other two losses they had are understandable since they were to top 25 teams on the road.

USC with 1 yard of offense in the 3rd quarter

Utes kick the FG and go up by 10

The bigger accomplishment may be getting Florida to reciprocate for the home-and-home. They haven’t played a true out of conference road game since 1991.

Utah back in the end zone. Caleb Williams has 10 minutes to orchestrate his Heisman moment
