After the off season moves, which division seems like the weakest in the league ?

Central has a powerhouse in Colorado and a decent club in St Louis. Minnesota got worse, Nashville and Dallas are about even, but Chicago and Arizona are absolutely terrible.

Pacific doesn’t have a team like Colorado, but all of Vegas, Edmonton and Calgary are looking strong. Vancouver looked better with a new coach. California teams are not there yet but they’re still better than Chicago and Arizona. Seattle also got much better.

in terms of strength of roster:

Stlouis = Edmonton
Minny = Calgary
Nashville=Vancouver
Dallas=Las Vegas

So now it comes down to:

Colorado/Winnipeg/Arizona/Chicago
vs
Seattle/LA/Anaheim/San Jose

Ill say the central is better as it has the undisputed #1 team in the nhl heading into next season.

Oops. I voted for the strongest. My bad.

Hmmm, noticed I could change my vote. Meh, too lazy.

I assume you think Minnesota got worse because of losing Fiala (which is a fair point), but Calgary is looking "strong" after losing both Gaudreau and Tkachuk?

Gaudreau & Tkachuk > Huberdeau.

If the question is weakest division in the league, you really should have all the divisions in the poll. How would you measure this? Which division has the best teams on top, worse on bottom or the least skill gap?

Here's some last season regular season stats..

Playoffs:
1. Central (SC)
2. Atlantic (SCF)
3. Metro & Pacific (CF)

Combined points / division:
1. Central (750pts)
2. Atlantic (731pts)
3. Metro (718pts)
4. Pacific (713pts)

Points by top4 teams / division:
1. Atlantic (454pts)
2. Central (439pts)
3. Metro (429pts)
4. Pacific (408pts)

Points by bottom4 teams / division:
1. Central (311pts)
2. Pacific (305pts)
3. Metro (289pts)
4. Atlantic (277pts)

Difference between top4 and bottom4 teams:
1. Pacific (103pts)
2. Central (128pts)
3. Metro (140pts)
4. Atlantic (177pts)

So the Pacific division has the least skill gap inside the division, but it also has least points overall and by top4 teams. Atlantic has the best teams, but it also has the worst teams.

Best way would be to check points in cross-divisional games, but if we go by these stats alone the order is:

1. Central (by a large margin)
2. Atlantic
3. Pacific
4. Metro

This could be completely different next season, I just thought it was interesting how different the statistical results are to at least my perception.

The best team in the NHL over the past several seasons plays in the central. The pacific doesn’t have a legit contender or one that’s even close. The Oilers were the worst team the Avs faced in the playoffs.

This was an easy vote.

Hahahahahahahaha what a trash take.

Also, what happened to Jedis never dealing in absolutes? Might want to consider a name change.

Trash was how bad the oilers were for a team that clearly didn’t belong in a western conference finals. Was a huge benefit to the Avs to cake walk thru a WCF so they could be rested for a real series vs a legit NHL contender.

Thanks to that rest courtesy of the Oilers romp, the Avs were the fresher team and dominated OT and 3rd periods vs Tampa.

Even the wild would have curb stomped the Oilers if they’d played in the playoffs.

You don't know how hockey works. Teams that come off sweeps are just as likely to lose against opponents that have played more games. NHL players like being in a rhythm.

Also lmfao at your take about the Oilers being the Avs worst opponent. Did you forget about the Predators? Or does your agenda cause temporary brain dysfunction?

Predators were a slightly tougher opponent. Both were easy sweeps. Y’all got a gift first round opponent in a bad and injured Kings team you barely beat. Then a flames team that had a goalie fall apart.

But once you played a playoff caliber team, it was a rout. Can’t believe how terrible Nurse is. And all he had was a oblique injury that didn’t require surgery. Yikes. He wasn’t even that hurt. Most players were dealing with discomfort. Nurse may have the worst contract in the NHL if his playoff level performance continues.

So you followed up your original trash take with an even trashier 2nd and 3rd take. Impressive, Most Impressive.... young misguided jedi.

Just because you don’t like hearing it doesn’t make it untrue. The oilers were completely unworthy WCF opponent. Only got there because of the stupid playoff format that lets you play pacific teams that are equally unimpressive. Be glad you’re in, by far, the worst division.

And yet they were almost universally panned going up against a Flames team that was considered a threat out of the west all season.

Funny how that changed the second Edmonton knocked them out. How very HF Boards.

I was impressed with how easily the flames got wrecked by the Oilers. I was unimpressed by much trouble an injured and not good Kings team gave the oilers. Very unimpressed by the oilers vs the Avs.
