It just has no bearing on the play that someone is a millimeter offside. In that case two guys were but the end result was San Jose had a defensive breakdown which led to that being able to happen.

The offsides rule sucks? Can you image how many cherry-picking goals there would be with no offsides?

That was not a millimeter, and BOTH players were offside on a play that led directly to a goal in a elimination game. That is exactly why the rule exists.

To be fair, one of the linesman went down with an injury and was replaced by a guy who is usually a ref.
