yes, we have, but we haven't been bad enough to get higher than 5th overall in almost a decade. that's kind of the point of this whole discussion: that winning more games is going to play us out of a draft pick where we can get elite talent and into the part where we merely get good players (as we have been doing for several years).I don't think one season of absolute **** will do much to improve the fortunes of this team. We've had pretty ****** teams for a long time.
our first round picks for missing the playoffs since the cup win have been brandon sutter, zach boychuk, jeff skinner, ryan murphy, elias lindholm, and haydn fleury. connor mcdavid has the potential to be far better than any of them.
