This guy has wanted nothing to do with this team or city his entire career and I’m supposed to be excited by him joining some worthless advisor role?

Even now he still isn’t willing to come to Montreal.

Who cares if he didn't want to come to Montreal as a player? Get over it. It's a weak argument.

Also, you look around the league and you will find that not all of the people in a team's hockey ops lives in the city of the team they work for.

For Montreal only:
- Scott Mellanby & Rob Ramage still live in St. Louis.
- Rick Dudley & Larry Carrière still live in Buffalo.
- Timmins lives in Ottawa.

- Martin Madden Jr., who has been with Anaheim for the last 14 years, and is now an Assistant GM, still lives in Quebec City.
- Al Murray, who like Madden, is an Assistant GM and Director of Amateur Scouting with Tampa for the last 12 years, still lives in Regina.

Every AGM in Tampa are not living in Tampa, that’s why Brisebois wanted to bring Darche. Because he wanted at least one person with him in the everyday operation in Tampa

And that is the case on most teams. These guys travel so much around to scout, meet with players, meet with agents, and all the details their jobs entail that it doesn't really matter where they live.

Those who are really needed on site for the day-to-day jobs like the GM and coaches, live in the city they work in. Everyone else, particularly those who also have other functions move around so much, where they live with their family has no bearing on anything.

So in Lecavalier's case, if he is indeed brought in officially, it has zero impact that he continues to live in Tampa. He can fly to Montreal for meetings and travel around to do other jobs he would be required to do and then return home to Tampa. He doesn't need to uproot his family if he will have an AGM or even a consulting gig.

It's 2022...we're almost 2 years into a global pandemic that's forced a lot of people to work remotely which has actually increased efficiency across a lot of sectors.

Why does anyone still think physical location is an impediment to job performance?

Excatly. It was like that before the pandemic (not needing to be physically in the city). The pandemic made them being in different locations even more accessible than ever before.

That’s not true though, he was accepting the trade in 2009 even with NMC (the only 2 teams he was accepting where LA and MTL) and he didn’t sign here in 2013 because he didn’t want to play the dump and chase of Therrien what I totally understand
When did he accept a trade here in 2009?
