Go over PPG in the SHL?
So just to be clear:

Do you think that 17(6 goals) points in 15 games for a forward in SHL is so much better than 10(6 goals) points in 10 games in Liiga as a defenseman that the rankings should be switched around? Not to mention Heiskanen is a year younger than Pettersson.

Do you think that being PPG in Liiga as a defenseman is commonplace or something?

The last defenseman to be at least at a PPG pace in Liiga is Erik Karlsson in 2012-2013 with 34 points in 30 games. Are you familiar with him?

Amount of other Defensemen at or above Heiskanen's pace in Liiga since 2000: 2

Amount of other Forwards at or above Pettersson's pace in SHL since 2000: 24

And of course, you also seem to think that 17 points(6 goals) in 15 games in SHL(as u 20 player) is more impressive than having 25 points(14 goals) in 27 games in KHL(as a u19 player). Can you confirm that that also is something you're saying?

The thread idea is not very bright considering seasons start at different times. For example, Liiga is only 10 games in, you can’t compare Karlsson to Heiskanen, he’s only played 1/3rd of the games. I watch more SHL than K and L so that’s a small bias per se, but Pettersson is playing better than his stat line is showing.

Top 5 as of now, for me if I was running the Leafs:

1) Nico
2) Heiskanen
3) Patrick
4) Petersson
5) Vilardi- tough to place but I still like him

I see, then the reason is "eye test" and not "scoring" like you were saying earlier, as his scoring does not place him above these two.

Do you think a PPG U20 rookie in the SHL is commonplace?

Also this thread is ridiculous, simply for the sample size of some players.

Considering Liljegren is already roughly 25% of the way to being the highest scoring 18 year old defensemen in the AHL, I'd say Liljegren probably wouldn't make it to 17 again.

Liljegren is on pace to play 57 games (though it will be more) which means his point pace is currently 31 points.

The closest comparable is John Carlson, who put up 39 in 48 as a 19 year old. Ristolainen also put up 20 points in 34 games as a 19 year old. Honka had 31 in 68. Malik had 41 in 58 way back when. Again, both as 19 year olds.

Kinda interesting that only 5 18 year old d-men have played a significant amount of time in the AHL. It seems the Euro's either go to the CHL, or stay in Europe. Lindholm, Kylington, Voynov, are the 3 most recognizable. There is also Victor Uchevatov and Yan Golubovsky, though they combined for 8 points in 121 games during their 18 year old seasons.

Except his scoring does because he’s the only one above PPG
You don't seriously consider SHL scoring to be worth the same as KHL scoring?

You don't seriously consider forward scoring to be worth the same as defenseman scoring?

Why not rank Heponiemi #1 then? Guy has 2.5 PPG. Pettersson's 1.1 can't compete.

Put Pettersson in CHL and he gets 3+ PPG

I'd love to know what Pettersson has done to be ahead of either Tolvanen or Heiskanen.
Hes potentially breaking records in the league as a kid
