Vanek renewed interest?

I wouldnt be upset with signing Daley, but we already have so many defensemen I dont know who we would lose, probably Sproul or Ouellet to waivers knowing Kenneh.

Sproul to waivers (guy will never be anything more than bust) and Kronwall to career ending LTIR.

Dekeyser - Green
Daley - Girardi
Ericsson - Ouellet/Jensen

I don't want Vanek. Just bring that Spencer Foo in.

Akader-Zeta-Mantha
Tats-Niels-Gus
AA-Larkin-Foo
Helm-Glend-Shea
(Bert, Frk)

That's 14 forwards.

We're going to be a poor team for a long time. With Holland at the helm, it will be prolonged. Yay. Can't wait to see his defenders for 10 more years. Do no wrong, never a cloud in the sky.

I didn't think the defense could get worse than it was last year, but never say never, I guess.

I'd prefer not to resign Vanek. Hope someone else takes him in.

If that's our list of D targets I'll ****ing die if they get more than 1 year. How sign a player and not even make the needle wiggle 101.

Because he kicked tires realized he has done the worst job of any no GM in developing nhl talent as we have little to offer in a trade so will call back to his old bag of tricks and sign sammuelson, white and bertuzzi

#RedWings look to sign a FA D-man or 2 starting Saturday. Dan Girardi, Trevor Daley, Brian Campbell, Ron Hainsey among names on their list.

#RedWings would also like to sign a FA forward but don't think they'll have cap space after they address the defense.

I actually went straight to twitter, because I though you just made that tweet up to mock/troll Holland.

This is for REAL! Yikes.

Don't get me wrong I actually love Trevor Daley, very underrated.
But not what this team needs at this stage.

Also why do we need 2 more old blueliners?

I know people WANT Kronwall LTIR'd, but is there any comment from DRW that leads us to believe this could actually happen?

Especially that the quote says "a defenseman or two". Eek, this might hurt.

Yeah not quite sure how we're even adding one D man little lone possibly two, Unless Ericsson gets bought out and Kronner goes on LTIR. I guess the Holland special could be to put both Sproul and Ouellet on waiver but by doing that and adding aging D men makes very little sense.

I still think Sproul could be something.
The man needs a chance to be a regular before we cast him off or bury him any deeper behind old man Campbell.

I worry we will likely land Campbell. Basically gets to play close to family and friends in his last year/s in the league.

I would stay away from any UFA D man this year. If Tatar or Nyquist moved in a trade for a D-man, I'd welcome back Vanek with open arms.

I want Sproul to be waived so he can be claimed by Toronto for nothing. So yeah, please go ahead and sign an old, over the hill veteran. Keep digging Kenny!

UFA's

The ONLY UFA I want to sign is McIlwrath who had a great playoff for Grand Rapids. The team is pretty tight on the cap with RFAs still to sign, so I not so sure that they really have any room to bring in someone from the outside. I say let our young guys play and see how they match against NHL opposition.

It's really sad how the only thing I have to look forward to in free agency is what harm Ken Holland is going to do to the franchise moving forward. It's just absolutely pathetic that it has gotten to this point. I'll just be absolutely dumb founded if Holland gives Girardi a multi year contract. At this point is he just trying to make the job as hard as possible for his predecessor? Yes Kenny, you've figured out the secret; Dan Girardi is the missing piece to put this team back in cup contention.

Only FA I'll be happy with is nabbing Vanek or someone similar for a 1 year deal that we can flip at the deadline. Call me crazy, but I think it is important for a team rebuilding for the future to look into acquiring future assets.

Looking forward to a couple terrible 3+ year deals to old defensemen.

No kidding. That list Khan tweeted is brutal. Veteran scraps that will get a final retirement payday in Detroit. How often does that narrative play out over the years?

Girardi ahahaha I called it on the trade forums. That right there's a list of washed up crap that's like Viagra for old Kenneth.

So ... signing those would constitute a deliberate tank job and, therefore, the beginning of a legit rebuild? :sarcasm:

Vanek was one of the better players last season before injury. Flopped in Florida but due to injury as well. I wouldn't oppose a return to Motown so long as the salary wasn't what he'd desire. He holds little to no tangible value other than providing another veteran presence on the squad.
