Honestly, I know he just had a hat trick the other night, but am I the only one unimpressed with Frolik 13 games into the season?

Doesn't bring the sheer desperation of Bouma.
Doesn't bring the physicality of Ferland.
Doesn't bring the speed of Byron. (who we waived, in case you forgot)
Doesn't bring the hands in-tight of Glencross.
Doesn't bring the shot of Cammalleri (who's only actually 0.7M cap hit more than him...)

I know, he's pretty good on the forecheck and... well that's about it. Swiss Army Knife? More like... generic middle 6 NHLer.

He's no Byron, that's for sure.

No kidding. It's extremely exhausting and annoying at this point.

I know, we get it certain posters liked Byron but acting like he is jesus christ himself and the reason our season is going down the toilet is just trolling people at this point.

So you're comparing him against those players' best attributes? Well obviously he's not going to be as physical as our most physical player, or as fast as our fastest. That's, like, the definition of being a Swiss Army Knife. He isn't elite at any one thing, but he's solid at everything and very effective. He's a winger version of Backlund at his best.

I've been very happy with Frolik. Even at the start of the year when no one was going, he created a ton of turnovers that led to scoring chances, and he's got a good stick in the defensive zone. He's played the type of game where, if he had 0 points right now, I'd still be fairly content, but on top of that he's third in the team in points.

If you're looking for a player to blame, Frolik should be near the bottom of the list with Gaudreau and Brodie.

I'd agree with this, but I also do get frustrated at times. His lack of speed does sometimes kill plays, and his lack of hands in tight as well. But overall, there isn't much to complain about. He's an effective player in spite of any shortcomings.

Well that's the thing. I don't think he's even solid at everything. He's got some strengths, which you noted, but he's below average at a lot of things. His shot is a muffin, his speed unremarkable, and he's one of the least physical forwards on a team with Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau. Unlike Backlund, he doesn't have that nifty ability to get the puck into the zone either.

If you're looking for a player to blame, Frolik should be near the bottom of the list with Gaudreau and Brodie.

Never said I blamed Frolik for this loss. As far as the loss goes, it's on Ramo, he has to be better. The Flames are currently 12th worst in scoring chances against yet allowing 4.2 goals per game. Those scoring chance numbers should tell you we're not a great defensive team, but league average goaltending would probably have us around 2.8 goals against per game where Dallas is currently sitting.

Some just don't get it. Frolik is a better version of Backlund. He's on par or slightly better defensively and better offensively. Contrary to what I said at the time of the signing he does look like a 2nd liner through and though.

If the guy had all those attributes he'd be Jarome Iginla

I like Frolik, can slide up and down the lineup really easily, doesn't seem to have much issue playing well with anyone on his lines, and has minimal adjustment time to the line shuffling, he just seems at ease no matter who he plays with.

And TJ Brodies +4 after 4 games is better per game than anyone in the league except for Leon in Edmonton (who's line is on fire).

It's funny how it's not the entire team struggling with a system but certain players falling to earth like rocks. Guys like Brodie, Gaudreau, Bennett(while playing top6 without Backlund), Engelland(how did he make the decision to be way better than last year), Hudler and Frolik really have deserved a better fate this season.

Fun fact of the game.... Bennett had more goals disallowed than our defense playing defense and goaltenders making clutch saves this season combined.

Who's #11? Seems weird to leave it out. Is that like a superstition like not having a 13th floor in a building?

Gotta think Dougie's scratched for next game. That empty net goal was just embarrassing. Bring Nakladal in and put Dougie in the press box.
