I'm not sure about Tyler Myers, or the cost for Tyler Myers in the first place. However, the 6'8 D comes with the advantage of being a RD, something Montreal is desperately lacking in terms of top-four Ds. The current trade value for Myers would dictate if making that move is worthwhile. At 23, I doubt he has plateaued and, with proper guidance and a change of scenery, can return to earlier form.

Just imagine:

Markov-Subban
Emelin-Myers
Murray-Gorges, or Murray-Pateryn, even, if Gorges needs to be part of a trade.

The top four D could eat up a tremendous amount of minutes and the 3rd pairing would only need to be solid defensively for limited minutes outside of PK minutes as specialists (Murray and/or Gorges, if Gorges remains)

Myers alone could be an interesting reclamation contract.

But considering what Buffalo would ask for him, and that contract which is just bananas...I would probably pass.

...if we could somehow talk (see: FOOL) Buffalo into taking our 1st and something(s) non-core (and salary) for Myers, we should be all over that...can you imagine how much better Myers would look insulated with Markov or Emelin as a partner??...pipe dream, I know, but it's fun to think about...;)

We just got rid of Gomez and Kaberle's contract and you guys are talking about Tyler Myers...
Yeah sure, he's big and would bring something to this team. Still, his contract expires in 2019. Will you guys ever learn?

Sign me up for Gorges and a 1st, but that will never happen.

...there's a HUGE difference between the Gomez/Kaberle contracts and that of a humungous 23 year old RHD that's just now starting to come into his own after alot of hype & heartbreak...oh, and his deal would last one more year than Emelin/Gorges and only costs 1.4/1.6 mill more per...a gamble worth taking for any team in need of a Top 4 RHD, for the right price of course...;)

I seriously doubt the Sabres will move him. He'll be a solid vet when their youngsters Zadorov and Ristolainen become NHLers.

He's been playing a lot better this season, and will continue to improve for the next 3-4 years. His contract can easily become a steal by 2015-2016.

Van-Habs-Cal

Booth to Habs
DD to Cal
Cammy to Van

-Vancouver needs an added piece with a scoring touch.
-Desharnais is a good player but doesn't fit in Montreal.
-DD would make the Flames better, IMO cause he brings more to the game than Cammy.
-Booth, it's mainly so the Habs get a decent return, could play second line and third line. At least 6 foot.
Stay away from Booth... at all cost. Take it from someone living here in BC.

No from everybody except Vancouver.

From MTL POV: Booth is really bad (worse then Desharnais)...(and often injured) Not sure Id do that deal
From Cal POV: DD for Cammy lol
From Van: Cammy for Booth Hell Yeah :handclap:

I actually think DD would help the Flames more than Cammy. Cammy is more one-dimensional and fits better as a complimentary player on good teams. While DD would shine one a weaker team, getting plenty of ice time.

If the Jets are seriously looking or open to moving Buff and Kane, and we are serious about adding quality talent to move us forward, here are some thoughts.

An obvious trade is a Kane for Patches swap, with us maybe adding a 2nd at most. Patches is a good player who scores, he has very good value. However, I don't know how much further ahead we are pulling the trigger on this, marginal I would say. And then what would happen to DDs game?

We are deep at center when you consider Gally is a center. The Jets are short on centers and their D is shaky. I love Pleks and would hate to see him go, but if he did we would have Gally, ( or, sigh, Brier could center )DD and Eller as our top 3 ( yes, I am assuming Gally would do fine ). Then the question is what we would add. Could add Gallagher, which would in part replace Kanes production. Or, if the Jets think they can get a quality winger for Buff, then we could offer Pleks and Gorges. I like Gorges and he seems like a leader for us, but I do think we could fill his position in and be better overall with the addition of Kane.

I believe in building through the Draft but given that a few core guys are signed for the next 4-5 years, that is our window and we have to hit it. So I would be willing to add a pick ( don't see why it would have to be a 1st ) to make it work.

So a possible top 3:

Kane Briere Bourque
Patches DD Gallagher
Galchenyuk Eller Gionta

I can't even believe I have to still explain why we shouldn't move Plekanec after his game against Chicago. He's proven for years what he can do and it seems like barely anyone recognizes that we would be ****ed without him. Briere and DD will get eaten alive as our two top centers.

I would say i hope you are kidding but i know you are not. This is worse than horrible. We trade our top scorer and our top forward for two underachievers. This would make our team worse and you actually have thoughts to throw Gallagher in. This is the way you ruin a franchise. If we can't get players like Kane and Buff without trading our top players, then don't do it.

Right-handed dman, no?

<Wizniewski? (Wisniewski? I forgot the spelling of his name!wondering what Columbus would ask for him?)
<Byfuglien?
<Myers? (6'8 right-handed beast...may not be easy to acquire!)
<Robidas? (cheap #4-5-6 dman? we don't have to give that much to get him?)
<Wideman? (not many here want him in a Hab jersey? not so sure I do either!).

Markov-PK Subban
Gorges-Wizniewski
Emelin-Diaz

Murray/Bouillon
Tinordi

-------------------------------- -------------------------------

Imo, I'd prefer Ladd and/or Byfuglien VS E.Kane.

Someone here would be ready to give Pleks+Tinordi+1st Rnd Pick for E.Kane.....no ****ing way if it were up to me!! I'm a huuuuuge fan of Pleks and can't wait to see J.Tinordi when he's fully developed, and...we need that 1st Rnd Pick (unless we're getting a Byfuglien or Myers or Ladd)...also our 1st rnd pick makes Draft day that much more exciting!!!!;)

Have always loved Pleks and I have often argued why he ought not to be moved. Thing is at forward the only position we are deep at is center ( I would much prefer to move DD than Pleks, and I do not see myself as a DD hater ), but I do not see much trade value for DD and certainly not anywhere enough to be one of the pieces for Kane.

I guess the question is are we better as a team now ( and for our window ), or would we be better minus Pleks and say Gorges but with Kane and a UFA d-man taking over from Gorges. I know I listed Briere at center, but that is because we have him and apparently he is a better center than winger, and God knows we need him playing better. Ultimately Gally is at center with DD and Eller.

Whats wrong with volchenkov he's good at blocking shots and he's got an alright shot?

...he's an absolute shell of the Dman he once was; nowhere near worth his contract and we don't need any more lefty 5/6/7 Dmen, we have those in bunches...Habs need a Top 4 RHD and Volchenkov is neither a righty nor Top 4 worthy anymore...
