Its like dubas played NHL23 tje nihht before and tried diffrent trades, wrote it down and went full ahead in reality, knowing wich price that was in scale.

Really. He litterary played video games, loading up, taking the players you thought where missing, and out with all bad contracts, give a damn about future 1sts, and not thinking about team dynamic or chemistry.

But it went well. 1sts two years ahead will be re-aquisted. Somehow. Legendary performance by Dubas.

"Doesn't create offensively". Yet somehow Sam Lafferty, who's producing as much in his breakout season as Engvall is (with Lafftery having the benefit of an unsustainable shooting percentage) is the replacement. Again, hits, mean pretty much nothing in isolation.

It would be nice to have them both in the lineup, rather than a guy whose starting position is front row of the pressbox.
When you're as tight against the cap as the leafs are you take the guy making less, Lafferty, every day.

Wow, a lot less than he was hyped up to be worth.

McCabe, Schenn and Gustafsson added at the TDL with only Sandin out? I know Muzzin is done but that leaves Reilly, Brodie, Liljegren, Giordano, Holl, McCabe, Schenn, Gustafsson no? 8 NHL D?

Don't sign Knies until the playoffs then. He wouldn't be cracking the roster at this point anyway.

They also wouldn't have had any flexibility to bring up an extra forward if somebody didn't end up on LTIR.

Dubois using the trade deadline to make a whole new team!

Depth on defence is the way.

Even if some are to say they don't "need" him... good to have an extra body come playoff time.

He didn't play all the games but he was there for 2 cup runs which is good experience.

Vancouver has such a bad GM. Sold a good bottom pair RHD for peanuts.

Nice pick up here by Dubas. He has a nice day for his club. Schenn will be a player for them.
We got a late 3rd round pick for a UFA who will most likely sign back with us next free agency when we give him a decent contract.

Vancouver fans are happy with our GM thus far after a shitty summer. Allvin is doubling down w/ new philosophy after being fooled by our coaching bump last year and Miller’s 100 point season + subsequent contract extension. There’s a lot of mess left, but hopefully Boeser and Miller deals get done and we can finally move on the next process.

I also didn't like a 3rd for Big Save Dave. He sucked before the trade.

The people saying Schenn would get a 1st were always out to lunch. That's irrelevant.

The Schenn deal is effectively Engvall for Schenn. Now, I liked all of the rest of Dubas' TDLish moves. But this one is a downgrade for me. Engvall is a useful player. They moved him for a guy who's going to sit in the press box. If Schenn is in the lineup for a contender, things are not going well.
He MIGHT sit in the press box. He’s insurance for the rest of the season and playoffs. You don’t need defencemen until you need defencemen. You don’t get to many guys that are better insurance than a Luke Schenn.

If he is playing games for the Leafs in the playoffs, that's a bad sign.

People want to cite Schenn's "Cup runs" with TB, but they thought so highly of him that he played an average of 9 minutes a game and only played a third of their playoff games.

Not sure why Toronto traded Sandin he was a good young D-man.
1. He held out last contract negotiations
2. He can't play RD where there might have been a vacancy
3. He wouldn't be a happy camper sitting out
4. He'll probably hold out again next negotiations
5. He's not very big or fast
6. Other reasons we don't know about?

Of course it’s a bad sign. It’s a bad sign if any team loses any of their top 6.

- Reilly signed for 8 years
- McCabe signed for 2 years
- Giordano signed for another year

There was no room left for Sundin on the left side, so now he goes where he'll hopefully get a regular spot in the lineup.
