Don't sign Knies until the playoffs then. He wouldn't be cracking the roster at this point anyway.I don't believe they had space to sign Knies with Engvall on the roster and Murray back.

When you're as tight against the cap as the leafs are you take the guy making less, Lafferty, every day."Doesn't create offensively". Yet somehow Sam Lafferty, who's producing as much in his breakout season as Engvall is (with Lafftery having the benefit of an unsustainable shooting percentage) is the replacement. Again, hits, mean pretty much nothing in isolation.
It would be nice to have them both in the lineup, rather than a guy whose starting position is front row of the pressbox.

Depth on defence is the way.Wow, a lot less than he was hyped up to be worth.
McCabe, Schenn and Gustafsson added at the TDL with only Sandin out? I know Muzzin is done but that leaves Reilly, Brodie, Liljegren, Giordano, Holl, McCabe, Schenn, Gustafsson no? 8 NHL D?

Seriously he is the kind of bottom pairing Dman the Leafs need for a long run.Oh god no
That was me when thinking the price was going to be a first. I’m good with it nowSeriously he is the kind of bottom pairing Dman the Leafs need for a long run.
Fair enough as yes a 1st in this years market would have been way too much but we would have taken it forsure. That was me when thinking the price was going to be a first. I’m good with it now
really have to wonder what the room thinks, they brought in like half a team of new players this week. Hopefully they can gel and have chemistry.
We got a late 3rd round pick for a UFA who will most likely sign back with us next free agency when we give him a decent contract.Vancouver has such a bad GM. Sold a good bottom pair RHD for peanuts.
Nice pick up here by Dubas. He has a nice day for his club. Schenn will be a player for them.
Numbers game, needed the space and he was the odd man out. Still think they flip the first and GustafsonNot sure why Toronto traded Sandin he was a good young D-man.
He MIGHT sit in the press box. He’s insurance for the rest of the season and playoffs. You don’t need defencemen until you need defencemen. You don’t get to many guys that are better insurance than a Luke Schenn.I also didn't like a 3rd for Big Save Dave. He sucked before the trade.
The people saying Schenn would get a 1st were always out to lunch. That's irrelevant.
The Schenn deal is effectively Engvall for Schenn. Now, I liked all of the rest of Dubas' TDLish moves. But this one is a downgrade for me. Engvall is a useful player. They moved him for a guy who's going to sit in the press box. If Schenn is in the lineup for a contender, things are not going well.
What other leafs moves are there?Yep, just enjoying the Leafs picking up their old d-man with minimal playoff experience after what, 14 years in the league? Such a Leafs move.
If he is playing games for the Leafs in the playoffs, that's a bad sign.He MIGHT sit in the press box. He’s insurance for the rest of the season and playoffs. You don’t need defencemen until you need defencemen. You don’t get to many guys that are better insurance than a Luke Schenn.
1. He held out last contract negotiationsNot sure why Toronto traded Sandin he was a good young D-man.
Of course it’s a bad sign. It’s a bad sign if any team loses any of their top 6.If he is playing games for the Leafs in the playoffs, that's a bad sign.
People want to cite Schenn's "Cup runs" with TB, but they thought so highly of him that he played an average of 9 minutes a game and only played a third of their playoff games.
Yeah. Schenn will be keeping that front-row seat warm in the press box. Big win!Basically its Engvall for Schenn. A no brainer win for the leafs.
