They already have an asset to trade for futures - Kuemper. It's not AZ's problem to re-flip whatever Toronto feels like parting with just so Toronto can have the pieces they want.1) It gives them a $2.5mil cash savings this season.
2) It gives them an excellent TDL asset, as top D like McDonagh have traditionally fetch bigger TDL returns than goalies.
OEL has zero trade value. Reilly is worth more than Kuemper. This is an obviously huge win for Arizona. So much so that the thread should probably just get locked. They already have an asset to trade for futures - Kuemper. Even if they wanted to flip him at the deadline, how's his trade value supposed to hold playing behind Chychrun and OEL? Or are they supposed to tank OEL's value playing him behind Reilly? Or are they supposed to speed up an OEL trade so that once again they can do Toronto a favour?

Outside of OEL (who the Coyotes would dump for literally anything that doesn’t require retention or long-term dumps coming back) they have only their #1D (Chychrun) and their #6D (Lyubushkin) under contract. They have fill their #2, #3, #4, #5 and #7 D slots. Morgan Reilly would be a HUGE acquisition for this team. Would be tremendously helpful until the TDL when he could be flipped for at least 150% of Kuemper’s draft day value later this week.Trading one of your best assets for a piece you don't even remotely need is not "an obviously huge win"; it's asset mismanagement.
It's Howard Berger. I forgot he even exists.I hate the Toronto media and their overrating of checks notes Coyotes players?
...only if they throw in Campbell too!Only HFBoards trade proposal between Arizona-Toronto I’ve ever seen that didn’t fleece the Coyotes.
Hey, we’ll add Garland and TO throws in Matthews and call it a day…..
OEL and Chychrun both play the left side, which side does Reilly play?Outside of OEL (who the Coyotes would dump for literally anything that doesn’t require retention or long-term dumps coming back) they have only their #1D (Chychrun) and their #6D (Lyubushkin) under contract. Nobody wanted Arizona’s garbage at the deadline.OEL and Chychrun both play the left side, which side does Reilly play?
Soderstrom is a huge upgrade to anyone that played the right side for the Coyotes, so the Coyotes do need someone to pair up with Chychrun on the right side.
Also bringing up that you can flip him at the deadline after Coyotes not being able to flip anyone this past season isn't a realistic option. As long as the cap stays flat, it is a buyer's market.
This is so unfair for Toronto a mod should lock this thread. Pronto.
...and how many will sign contracts for next season? Just because Chayka doesn't know how to build a hockey team and Tocchet not knowing how to utilize what he has, doesn't mean they are garbage. It's obvious that the offer wasn't enough to bother with.Nobody wanted Arizona’s garbage at the deadline.
So why is the Coyotes adding for a player that isn't a roster need? How much would AZ have to add?
