1) It gives them a $2.5mil cash savings this season.

2) It gives them an excellent TDL asset, as top D like McDonagh have traditionally fetch bigger TDL returns than goalies.

Arizona really needs to move out OEL’s $10.5mil in cash. I’ve been suggesting OEL for Lucic, straight-up, If Seattle claims Gio. That’s $8mil in savings. These two deals combined, save AZ $10.5mil in cash. That’s enough to re-sign Garland and sign two UFA goalies.
