Right now - Swedes. Best season, if a high stakes all-star game/tournament started tomorrow, you go with them.

Who you take "going forward" - US. Best combination of age/skills (both Hedman/EK are old).

For team Canada....is this really the best 4? Seems like you could come up with a better list. I obviously choose Makar #1 overall still, not sure I'd go with the other 3...

Why only top 4. I assume this wold be best on best tourney or Olympics. Never bet against Canada. f*** the States and Sweden. Canada has been the best forever. Just because a couple of Swedes are having above average seasons doesn’t change that.

If you need a power play specialist that depend on having a loaded roaster I would also take makar.

Makar wish he has the talent of EK and dahlin will be better than makar from here on out. You can quote me on this.
Plays on a great team argument works always. Makar is the guy who elevated Colorado from good to elite. Change him to horrendous defender like Dahlin/Karlsson, then Colorado would have been pretty much the same team as Edmonton is and Tampa would have celebrated their three-peat last summer. But i know this is hfboards, lets overwrite everything based on first 1/3 of the season

yeah no, they wouldve won anyway with a current Dahlin or EK over Makar

Hedman - Karlsson are already the best pair.

Rasmus Dahlin play like his hype so far, so he is a amazing D-man.

Hampus Lindholm is really underrated there... he play very well with Boston and product more than his time with Anaheim.

Sweden and it's not even close to me!

United States easily. Their pairings are much better defensively while the other pairings have the redundancy of having two puck movers. There is a reason guys like Theodore and Pietrangelo don’t play together. Slavin-Fox would be the best two-way pairing easily. Hughes-McAvoy is also superior to any of Sweden’s pairings because they have the best puck mover and defensive player.

Player chemistry aside they also have superior players.

Karlsson < Fox
Dahlin < Slavin
Lindholm < McAvoy
Hedman = Hughes

Why isn't he elevating the players right now? Or is he only able to elevate elite players? I am confused 🤔. From what I've seen ( haven't checked the scores throughly, he has only scored on pp or 6 on 5 and empty netters this past month. And mostly all of those points, that aren't many have gone through rantanen.

Where is the too close to call option here?

On paper I can see arguments for the US over Canada and 3 of the swedes are having really big years while Hedman really isn't the same level of performer that he has been in the past.

Sweden has the best offensive defencemen in Karlsson and the best two way defencemen in Dahlin. That defense would produce a lot of points I'll tell you that much.

Nice they have had good start this year! Too bad that unlike Makar, they have never done anything similar in playoffs that Makar did last year. No, not even Karlsson 6 years ago who was much better player than 2022 Karlsson we're talking about here. Those 2 are the guys I wouldn't rely at all during playoffs. Well, it's question itself if Dahlin's "elite performances" will ever be seen in playoffs. Wonder why..

so now youre saying Dahlin is the reason why Buffalo havent made the playoffs in forever. Are you serious?

You think if Makar was on Buffalo the past 5 years theyd suddenly be contenders I take it?

Maybe. It would be a downgrade and even small changes can have a huge impact in a series. Makar was the Avs best player all season, doubt those two would outplay MacKinnon.

HF in a nutshell where 30 games sample = full season of 86pts in 77 games + Norris/Conn Smythe Makar during that cup run. The famous "what have you done for me lately " strikes again.

You really think Dahlin is going to trail off in the 2nd half? Have you watched him and Buffalo play this season?

He may not finish at a PPG, but dont tell me having him in Colorado's lineup over Makar suddenly gets them eliminated from last playoffs. Please. Colorado was a lot more than just Makar last spring.
