Look no further than Bowen Byram. He was fine, played a game, now he’s out for god knows how long. Post concussion syndrome is nothing to mess with.

His doctor may in fact advise him to retire but of course it will be up to Toews if he wants to come back. With this concussion along with past concussions, it may be best for him to retire.

We all thought Crow was done after his concussions but he came back (not past his final contract year, but still). Khaira came back from a concussion we all thought would be it for him; he came back.

Not gonna write off Toews. He looked fine after the hit, and although some players (like Byram as has been mentioned) can play the rest of a game and then take off for who knows how long due to a concussion, it's still a better sign that he wasn't immediately affected by it.

My guess is he'll be out for just a few weeks. Might not happen, but that's why I'm calling it a guess.

It could be rough, I recall reading him talking in 2013 how he rushed back for the 2012 playoffs despite his concussion and he said he never felt completely healed from it until he saw some balance specialist in November that year.

That lockout really helped probably giving Toews and Hossa long recoveries.

There was one cup run where he got rocked and barely missed a shift. But he looked out of it.

I think Willie Mitchell got him in open ice around 2010 as well. Certainly not a good history for him.

The concussion that took him out down the stretch in 2012, which depending on who you believe, came from a hit or the car accident he was in.

The hit in the 2013 Finals kept him out for a period of Game 5.

I'm sure there have been more between that one and this latest one. I seem to remember a pretty bad hit in a game against Pittsburgh at one point too.

Guy has taken a ton of punishment over his career.

The "concussion spotters" are absolutely f***ing useless, from my perspective.

Toews was in some discomfort but the play looked pretty innocent that wouldn't necessarily get a spotter's attention.
