We're happy with Oshie, the trade is a success since Oshie is a clear improvement over Brouwer. We'd like to sign him again, unfortunately he'll probably get a lot more than we can afford to pay him on the open market.
Also, I'm concerned about Oshie's skating abilities. Needless to say, he's not a very good skater. Blues fans know it, Oshie tripped over the red line yet again on the OT goal against the Hawks yesterday. The game is becoming faster each year, I'm worried that Oshie might not be able to keep up with the pace of the league in 4-5 years. He'll be close to 35 years old, and I wouldn't want to be stuck with a 3rd line winger making north of $5M.
The Caps' window of contention is very narrow, I'd only be open to a short term deal. I'm not sure his needs match ours.
