After Matteau last year, anything's possible. Still can't imagine seeing Domi's old man and that ugly smirk hanging around the Devils. To think, if Scotty Stevens could've managed to get out of that penalty box 12 years ago, little Max never would have had the opportunity to spend all that time around all those NHL stars and become the player he is today.

If Scotty wasn't in the Penalty Box to begin with, Max's old man wouldn't have pulled that ********* move at all.....

He knew exactly what he was doing....

Assuming we stay at #9:

I would be thrilled beyond belief if one of Nichuskin/Lindholm/Monahan fell, however unlikely.
I would be very happy with Domi.
I would be reasonably satisfied with Shinkaruk.
I would be neutral/slightly disappointed with Nurse or Ristolainen.
I would very upset with Horvat or Zadorov at this selection.

This is essentially the way I feel about it too. Maybe Horvat is in the neutral group for me. I really don't want a defenceman at this spot though.

Draft the BPA.

We did not necessarily need a goalie the year we drafted Marty.

Did we "need" a goalie? I guess not. Were we especially strong at the position? Not really.

And since that pick we haven't needed a goalie since. Which is my counter point to the "team needs change" argument. The drafting of players is a key element in swaying team need. The recent use of high picks on D-men has helped the org go from weak on D-depth to it now being perceived as a strength.
