I haven't read the latest THN so I don't know what their commentary is on him but I'm still in awe everytime I watch this guy. He is very average in many ways and his biggest problem probably is his shot has no velocity but his accuaracy ... OMG his accuracy ... its just not human I tell you. He sees a small opening anywhere on net and he hits it 9 times out of 10 and this is from the blueline. There is no dman I have ever seen play that I can compare his accuracy to.

The only reason I can figure he's still in juniors as an overager is he needs some more zip on that shot (ie unless the goalie is partially screened or just plain sucks they can stop most of his shots).

Actually Sangs isn't an overager this season. He just turned 20 last Friday.

Haven't seen him play this season, but I've followed his progress closely. Looks like he's going to make a good compliment to Staal down the line and a great addition to a young defense (Tyutin, Girardi, Staal). From what I've gathered without having seen him, he definitely has some things to work on (especially after turning pro in 2008-09), but he brings some elements to the table that New York's other young defensemen don't.

I haven't looked for it on newstands yet, but I bought the digital version of it on Zinio.com:

http://www.zinio.com/gncoffer?issn=0018-3016C&of=ZHHKY&ns=usa

Thanks Sean. Hmm. Well, I guess the rebuilding program isn't going too badly...

For the Columbus Blue Jckets:

THN 24: LW Nikolai Kulemin (TOR #1); HFNHL 2nd round 55th pick 2006
THN 31: D Ryan McDonagh (MTL #2); HFNHL 1st round 13th pick 2007
THN 37: LW Max Pacioretty (MTL #3); HFNHL 1st round 28th pick 2007
THN 42: G Leland Irving (CGY #2); HFNHL Trade with Colorado
THN 71: D Brendan Smith (DET 34); HFNHL 3rd round 86th pick 2007
THN 72: C/D Brian Boyle (LAK #4); HFNHL 2nd round 57th pick 2003; reacquired in trade with Dallas

Honourable mentions:

D Alexei (Y)Emelin (MTL #6); HFNHL Trade with NY Rangers
C Logan MacMillan (ANA #6); HFNHL 1st round 20th pick 2007
RW Sergei Korostin (DAL #7); HFNHL 2nd round 51st pick 2007
C Nate Davis (CHI #8); HFNHL 6th round 173rd pick 2005
RW Robin Figren (NYI #8); HFNHL 4th round 98th pick 2006
C Morten Madsen (MIN #9); HFNHL Trade with Detroit
C/RW Jeremy Colliton (NYI #9); HFNHL 2nd round 61st pick 2003

Actually, I think Sauer could have been rated higher - he's looking terrific in his own end in his first pro season.

Hated trading him. I think he'll be a good two way defenseman in the near future.

C

Too bad the praise is not as glowing for Grigorenko, who was the other prospect acquired in that deal. I had moderately high hopes for him coming to North America tis year, but his performance with Grand Rapids was less than satisfactory. C'est la vie, I guess - if I could count on 50% of prospects panning out, I'd be in terrific shape!

I still can't find the future watch issue in the Vancouver area. I'm wanting to know how some of my Kings rated.

Finally got a copy myself.

I’m not really surprised that I don’t have many in the top 50, only have Giroux at #16 w/ Hanzal being considered ‘graduated’, but still I’m pleased with the number of guys in team top 10’s despite Detroit always drafting late.

Brian Salcido (ANA #2) – Drafted by DET 2005 6th
Martin Karsums (BOS #10) – Drafted by DET 2004 2nd
Mike Weber (BUF #6) – Drafted by DET 2006 2nd
Marc-Andre Gragnani (BUF #7) – Drafted by DET 2005 3rd
Andrei Tartukhin (CGY #3) – Drafted by DET 2001 2nd
Juuso Puustinen (CGY #9) – Drafted by DET 2007 2nd
Kris Versteeg (CHI #7) – Acquired through trade
David Jones (COL #3) – 2004 FA signing
Vojtech Polak (DAL #10) – Drafted by DET 2003 2nd
Mikhail Grabovski (MTL #10) – Drafted by DET 2005 5th
Mike Santorelli (NSH #8) – Drafted by DET 2005 7th
Claude Giroux (PHI #2) – Drafted by DET 2006 1st
Nate Guenin (PHI #9) – 2006 FA signing
Josh Tjordman (PHX #8) – 2006 FA signing
