It's almost like it takes longer than 5 years to rebuild from being one of the worst teams in NHL history.
We are actually right around where they should be, maybe even further along honestly.
My God, knock it off with this loser talk. Yzerman wasn’t hired to take over five years to make this a playoff team again; Detroit could have hired anyone else and they’d have the same results. It was never supposed to take this long.
Yzerman was brought back to be special, and so far, he hasn’t been. At some point, there needs to be serious pressure on him, because none of us would get over 5 years to not make any significant progress at our jobs.
There are people all over social media bleating that “you’re not a real fan if you criticize THE CAPTAIN” as if he were the second coming. Same people who would still be saying “Trust the Yzerplan” if they were still not in the playoffs by 2026.
Five years into a rebuild and not be in the playoffs is unacceptable for the Detroit Red Wings. This isn’t Buffalo or Columbus where a single playoff appearance per decade is the standard.
