I think there’s a lot of posturing going on. While I would be very happy to not see McDonagh moved, and for the Rangers to commit long term to him, I think that the situation is past the point of no return. How is your captain not a part of last night’s ceremony?
This was the cherry on top that told me he is gone today. If not, then this situation could become toxic, and if that happens it will suck to see people vilify mcd.

I hope the Rangers trade McDonagh to the leafs. And the haul is so great that it puts the franchise back another 5 years.
Reading what leaf fans think they have to give up for McDonagh in the main board thread is quite comical and frustrating at the same time.

Yeah the fact that Mac wasn't a part of the ceremony last night is telling, IMO. He's not that injured. I think they have deals on the table, but they're waiting on the Karlsson situation to be resolved.

I think McD needs to be moved today, but Gorton can hold off if the value isn't there. McD isn't a guy you trade for pennies on the dollar, and this trade will direct a lot of how this rebuild will go.

Zuccs...better to wait unless there's a homerun offer. There's a lot of wingers on the market at the moment.

I only move Miller for a solid RHD of similar age. Someone here mentioned Pesce, and that's the type of guy I'd be looking at.

The only UFA to go is DD.

A Panthers fan put this proposal for McD on the main board:
2018 1st, Tippett, Heponiemi, and a roster dman for McDonagh. If that last piece is Gildon I'd pull the trigger

Gildon isn't a roster defensemen though, and "roster defensemen" is very vague. Is that McCoshen? Then it's okay but if it's Matheson it's absolutely, yes.

He was at Casino Night and was skating the other day. It definitely is a weird situation.

Today we see what the Sather/Gordon fan base letter was all about. The moves made so far do not follow its context. Nash, Grabner and Holden were not exactly fan favorites although they were mostly liked and respected. McD, Zucc and Miller are a different story and fit the bill and the message. I think one goes today. Although I also think we may make a move or two at the draft instead if JG does not get what he wants today.

Yeah, could very well have been preparing us is incase something happened, and then everyone knows the plans at the draft if moves go down then instead of now. Grabs and Nash were well liked, but as you said, not in nearly the same vein as Mac or Zucc.

Although.....

Barring something very under the radar or unforeseen cropping up, thought that was highly bizarre.

I understand that but the 1st 3 pieces are the perfect start of a deal and the last piece is where you start with Gildon and move to a piece like Matheson then mcoshen

Also wouldn’t be opposed to getting another LD and trying to flip him to a team like WPG

I think Karlsson is holding up any activity on Mac. He needs to be traded already or teams need to move on from him.

I think Gorton moves McDonagh today. Something odd has been going on for a little while now. McDonagh hasn't been 'that' injured to not be around the team more. I'm thinking he requested a trade quietly knowing the media circus that will follow if he isn't dealt at this deadline. This is pure speculation
Tank. Shattenkirk probably couldn’t kept playing also, but to what end?
