severson would be better if he took a ****ing slapshot once in a while. was losing my mind last night when the puck would go back to him and he'd take his time and then eventually softly wrist it at the net
I am basing the notion that he will get better on the fact that his game improved this season as compared to last season and that 21 year old players typically get better and are not finished products...
Just my opinion but:My hopeful lineup changes that make a ton of sense to me, but will never ever ever happen:
If Vatanen is good to go, Mueller in for Moore, Santini in for Lovejoy.
If Vatanen isn't good to go, Mueller in for Lovejoy, Santini in for Vatanen.
Bratt in for Wood.
Joey Anderson in for Stafford.
Point was one or our best PKr's. Which he is not.No, what I mean is, Grabner is one of the elite penalty killers in the NHL. Top 25 for sure, meaning he would be the best PK'er on plenty of teams.
We're really debating this, have you watched any Rangers or Islanders games over the last 5 or 6 years? Just because he's played bad for the Devils over the last 20 games, doesn't negate his entire NHL career.

stats-wise, this season was more or less identical to last season. so it sounds like you're basing it on 1) the eye test (which is fine, there were times he looked better this year vs last year. although as ramsay would say, he's about as consistent as pigeon **** in trafalgar square) and 2) his age.
It did?
I think he's gotten better positionally on defense, that's good, and expected.
Offensively? That thing that matters. I didnt see progression at all.
no suspension for that hit? and nothing on the lovejoy boarding because he didn't milk it enough, right?
His play away from the puck and his defensive awareness absolutely increased since last year.
Also, is it wrong to say that young players typically improve as they age?
What about Tyler Biggs?
Last year he got better PP oppurtunities. This year his 5v5 offense was a lot better. Pretty significant improvement across the board. It did?

Dude just turned 21. Literally less then 2 weeks ago. And you can't wait to be done with him? Never mind that he had a really strong game last night.
Just odd how some fans can so dislike a player on their own team.
Before discrediting someone’s opinion try looking at the big picture. We have the cap space, we have a good young club, I doubt he would sign with the Rangers out of loyalty, Toronto has a big payday coming not the Devils. The Devils just have Hall to sign down the road. He also seems like the type of guy who likes some obscurity and as for the Devils, after Nico we have zero and please don’t be foolish and list Zacha or Zajac. Zacha has proved nothing and Zajac is basically our shutdown center. We need a lot of things, however, having two top centers will make us a top team. I’m not saying he signs here however, we have a lot to offer starting with Shero instead of Snow. Think before writing.

I can’t do anything but laugh at this point. This league is a total joke.
no argument here. he'll be a regular ryan carter in no time
that is correct. they improve, they plateau, they decline. so i guess we differ on where exactly zacha is in that process
This right here is why I (personally) am ranting about Zacha/McLeod this morning when there is so much positive to talk about, for the record. I love the Devils and think they are in a great spot. But conversation is useless if all you do is say everything is rosy, just like relationships are fake if people only tell you good things. You can love your team and call it like it is with players/coaches/executives/arenas/owners etc. Just saying everyone is great all the time is literally useless.
so you would say that it is normal for a player to plateau at 21 years old?
alrighty.
