Uh, not official yet
While you're right that it almost certainly will happen, it's not official until we clinch. 2 points for us or if Montreal drops 2, and we've done it.It's more than official.
To miss, the Isles would have to finish 0-4 and Montreal finish 4-0 (or 3-0-1 depending on tiebreakers).

Not necessarily. In the 3-0-1 scenario, if two of the wins are by shootout, they'd only have 40 ROW, so we'd win the tiebreaker. With either scenario we would lose the tiebreaker because of ROW.
Washington remaining games. In with 100 points.

Dont stress Mawn (Jamaican voice) Isles are winning the Met. (Bobby Ferrin) Don’t Worry Be Happy!Hypothetical:
Suppose the last game against WAS is tied near the end of regulation, and the Isles need a regulation win to take the division. Do they pull the goalie and risk giving up an empty-netter and losing the game?
Oh, and if they lose the game in regulation, the Isles drop to #3 and PIT has home ice in their series.
I wouldn't give up home ice in round one in a last ditch effort to try and get it for rounds 1 and 2. Too risky.Hypothetical:

Protect home ice. Do not risk finishing 3rd.Hypothetical:

Phil is putting me in the lineup tomorrow despite being unable to skate and having never played in my life:

Yeah. It’s sort of the same reason the Caps wouldn’t do what someone suggested yesterday. I saw someone post the Caps might not bench guys against us if division is clinched if they could still get more points than Calgary. You don’t risk injury to key players to try and get home ice in a series that may not occur. The bruins don’t matter. Because they didn’t win their division the Caps will have home ice against them anyway. That’s a rule that should be changed I think. Division status shouldn’t matter in the conference final vs another divisional team
