What if the deal was Bennett for Hamonic

Straight up ? Or maybe there are some exchange of prospects to even out?

This is all about getting JT to commit and i don't know if that gets it done. Bennett needs to take a major step forward if he's traded here.

If they keep Hammer, then CDH may go in a package for Duchene (will likely have to move a top prospect though).

If they keep CDH then they may move Hammer for a 1018 1st round plus a decent prospect or a good bottom 6 forward.

You could but that was not the plan. You also take a big risk of losing Tavares if you don't make a move to improve the team. This team right now is not a legit contender. JT has made it pretty clear he wants to see what Garth does to improve the team if he is going to sign an extension.

When did he say that?

Maybe we should just forget Duchesne.

I wonder what would it take to get Reinhart from Buffalo?

Have you not been reading twitter? Staple has said this as have many hockey pundits. If the Isles don't improve the team he's gone. Why the heck do you think Snow has been trying to get Duchene and got Eberle.

Where is he going who can afford him who is any better off though? There aren't many options out there

That's called speculation, JT never said that. I think he is staying no matter what.

At this point, Garth should just move on, go for Galchenyuk, and play him at center until Barzal is ready...

Stop with Galchenyuk. He's going to wind up being a wing and command just as many assets and salary as Duchene...And yet still NOT solve our #2 center problem.

You have to say today was a complete failure for Snow. He overpriced Hamonic (supposedly interested teams Calgary & Toronto probably laughed at Snow's demands) didn't try to move back into the first round with gems like Tolvanen and Kostin sitting there late in the 1st round. Just a total disaster. David Poile makes Snow look like a joke. Doesn't lose his 1st round pick in the expansion draft, winds up with Tolvanen (wow, just wow), and is now in talks for Duchene. That's how you run a franchise.

At this point, he'd be a good pick up. Duchene is a pipe dream at this point. Might as well go after Galchenyuk. Barzal will be our #2 center. That's what he was drafted for. Galchenyuk brings size and talent. Throw him on the second line with Barzal & JHS. I'd give up Hamonic + for Galchenyuk.
