Petteri Lindbohm debuts tonight against Anaheim.
And not a bad start at all, despite the Blues losing. Don't want to get too giddy after just one game, but he sure looks like he's across the pond to stay. Lineup regular by next season would sure do good to that 2016 team.

Now, let's wait Jokipakka's turn...

Definetely not a colden age by any other standard than tournament success. Well, Finland is producing junior players well at the moment as well.
State of the national hockey should be improved and after Koivu, Selänne, Lehtinen, Numminen and others have retired the core of finnish NHL players is weakened significantly. There are no great finnish offencive stars in the NHL at the moment.
I have high hopes, things would get better in the future.

Yeah, well, obviously we aren't in one right now. But the whole point is to discuss whether that improved junior production is going to spring us into one in a few years.

And... boom. That's another.

Just like Lindbohm, didn't look fancy but will definitely be a full-time NHL player, soon.

We might just have D corps wholly made of seasoned NHLers by 2018.

We could have that now.
Actually, I think he meant he meant either a full NHL or KHL squad, as in all the players from the NHL, or all the players from the KHL. The latter is possible right now, former not quite unless you wish to count all the prospects.

Of course, I don't quite get what good is such observation. Beyond a mere curiosity, that is.

Curiosity is a funny beast, in 2002 our goalies were, Florida's backup as the starter, and as the guy opening the door we had Atlanta's AHL starter.

Let me re-phase, we could have team's from either completely from NHL or KHL and still be competitive.

Of course the best possible team would be mainly NHL based and maybe some KHL & Euro league players here and there. That is some serious depth... expect in scoring but we might have elite goal scorers in the future as well.

Hey. Round up team KHL and team NHL!

Team KHL:

Mikko Koskinen
Atte Engren
Riku Helenius

Sami Lepistö - Juuso Hietanen
Teemu Eronen - Ilkka Heikkinen
Ossi Väänänen - Joonas Järvinen
Ilari Melart - Topi Jaakola

Sakari Salminen - Jarkko Immonen - Oskar Osala

Olli Määttä - Sami Vatanen
Jyrki Jokipakka - Rasmus Ristolainen
Petteri Lindbohm - Julius Honka
Mikko Vainonen - Ville Pokka

Lauri Korpikoski - Mikael Granlund - Jussi Jokinen
Jori Lehterä - Aleksander Barkov - Sean Bergenheim
Valtteri Filppula - Mikko Koivu - Tuomo Ruutu
Leo Komarov - Erik Haula - Jesse Joensuu

Coach: Teppo Numminen (the latest Finn to stand behind the bench in the NHL, in any capacity)

ATM, I think we still need better depth for both leagues. Goalies are superb in Team NHL, and still better-than-average in Team KHL. Forward group is passable in both squads. Team NHL could use better depth with wingers, Team KHL with centers.

Defense... could be better with Team KHL, and is down right abysmal with Team NHL. Good thing they've got those world-class goalies to cover 'em.

If those teams were to meet on neutral ice, it'd be pretty hard to say which one's got the upper hand. If pushed, I'd actually say Team KHL. They're far more balanced with better coaching.

BONUS - Team Liiga:

Juha Metsola
Juuse Saros
Teemu Lassila

Tuukka Mäntylä - Teemu Aalto
Mikko Mäenpää - Tommi Kivistö
Lasse Kukkonen - Janne Niskala
Joni Tuulola - Simo-Pekka Riikola

Ville Vahalahti - Teemu Ramstedt - Kasperi Kapanen
Jesse Saarinen - Mika Niemi - Olli Palola
Joonas Donskoi - Kim Hirschovits - Kai Kantola
Ville Nieminen - Thomas Nykopp - Jasse Ikonen

Coach: RD

I agree its much more close than would think. Specially if NHL guys Koivu, Granlund, Barkov, Jussi et cetera continue to shoot blanks

Pulkkinen should definitely be in the lineup...and Husso over Saros?

It was outdated from notepad from last spring when hadnt seen all the guys but had been buzzed about thats why put dont ask. Since then seen the u17 class guys like Laakso, Felixson, Mäkinen, Niemeläinen, Reunanen that impressed in 2 games that saw few days ago in u17 hockey challenge. Specially Felixson 6'6 defensman who can actully plays is a guy ill be keeping eye on. Im not sure if Pulkkinen should be specially if Laine/Puljujärvi pan out like theyre projected and that right wing is most stacked position. You can never have too many goalscorers I quess but the entire lineup was mainly a fun quess, a educated quess(crapshoot) what the "golden generation" 1990-1999 born might look like.

Anyone els wanna try theyre fantasy 90-99 born roster? If had to do it now id make something like.

Mikael Granlund - Aleksander Barkov - Patrik Laine
Mikko Rantanen - Teuvo Teräväinen - Jesse Puljujärvi
Kristian Vesalainen - Roope Hintz - Kasperi Kapanen
Teemu Hartikinen - Erik Haula - Miikka Salomäki
Markus Granlund
Joel Armia

Urho Vaakanainen - Juuso Välimäki
Olli Juolevi - Julius Honka
Olli Määttä - Rasmus Ristolainen
Oliver Felixson
Sami Vatanen

Ville Husso
Juuse Saros
Leevi Laakso

changes to the earlier one
- Saarela, Lehkonen, Ortio, Jokipakka, Pokka
+ Vesalainen, Välimäki, Hintz, Felixson, Laakso

I think Erik you are very optimistic about Vaakanainen and Välimäki considering how good Määttä and Vatanen have been (Ristolainen too). Their development must be amazing for them to surpass this trio. And if that were to happen our defensecorps would easily be world class (Määttä in the 3rd pairing).

Mikael Granlund - Aleksander Barkov - Patrik Laine
Mikko Rantanen - Teuvo Teräväinen - Jesse Puljujärvi
Artturi Lehkonen - Markus Granlund - Kasperi Kapanen
Kristian Vesalainen - Erik Haula - Iiro Pakarinen

Olli Määttä - Sami Vatanen
Olli Juolevi - Rasmus Ristolainen
Petteri Lindbohm - Julius Honka

Juuse Saros
Veini Vehviläinen

Jea definetly favoured the later born classes. Could be wrong or simply we getting better by year. I took the optimistic route and why not. For me Vatanen was either the number 1 guy or as extra. Decided to go with solid 6 like Canada(sochi) with Subban as extra, Vatanen in this case. Anyway just for funzes the lineups.

Until Vaakanainen, Välimäki and Juolevi actually show something vs adult players it's pointless to rank them ahead of Jokipakka, Lindbohm, Lindell etc, let alone Vatanen.

from wikipedia

Fantasy=A fantasy is a situation imagined by an individual that expresses certain desires or aims on the part of its creator. Fantasies sometimes involve situations that are highly unlikely; or they may be quite realistic.

Oh didn't see the 1990-1999 roster thing. I thought you were making predictions for 2018 or 2022 Olympics. :D

I don't like Felixson that much, he plays way too softly and doesn't use his size nearly enough, at least in the Jr. B. As a matter of fact, I like his teammate Miro Heiskanen (1999) a lot more. Small defensemean at 5-7 but has great puck skills, vision and plays an incredibly consistent game with the puck. Never seems to make mistakes and can also defend.

I see you were also doing a lot of quessing in that post...

Pardon the jest my friend, but this just popped up and I couldn't resist.
