Never realized, but Fenton had some goal scoring ability as a player.
•Scored 60 goals for Peoria in the IHL right out of Boston University(undrafted), 4th in the league (2nd with 70 goals was former North Star Dirk Graham).
•Scored 41 goals the next year for Binghamton in the AHL (4th in the league that year with 47 goals was Bruce Boudreau).
•After a year splitting time with the NHL Whalers, the next year he got 53, 2nd in the AHL after future NHL star Paul Gardner's 61.
•Traded to NYR, played the next year at New Haven, where 37 goals placed him 9th in the league (Brett Hull's 50 were good for 3rd).
•He had 2 decent years in the NHL: 20 goals for LA in the Robataille-Nichols years; 32 goals for Winnipeg during the Hawerchuk-Steen years.
In short, he earned a bit of respect from me tonight, as a player at least. He shared locker rooms with and competed against some top players.
