1) veterans provide more than on-ice performance during the playoffs. let's act like we've been there before, please

2) you keep on clamoring for bratt. on what, the 4th line? do you really think that is going to be the difference maker here? he's 19 for christs sake, if he doesn't play in the playoffs this year it's not the end of the world
+1, unless we don't have options in the top 6, i also don't think bratt would be effective in a checking role in the bottom 6. just to have him there doesn't do much

t-shirt giveaways would help as well, but i mean all we get are towels

damn cheap team :sarcasm:

I hate t-shirt giveaways for hockey anyway. It's the one sport where a large number of fans wear jerseys, and the t-shirts just cover them up. Wish they went with white towels though, you can barely see the red towels against the red jerseys. The white towels create an awesome contrast. #17 even commented in 2012 how much better the white towels looked when we switched over from red.

The thing is that, as those damn Panthers proved to us, it's pretty damn tough to get to the playoffs and there's really no guarantee that the Devils get here next season. Nothing is ever guaranteed in sports aside from the Referees making dumb calls.

I just want him to get an opportunity if only for his development as a player. This situation is a rare opportunity(yes, I know I'm repeating what @My3Sons stated. ;) ) for Bratt to get that experience *now* that he otherwise wouldn't have gotten until a season or two down the road.

If they can just play with full effort and emotion for all 60 mins I think the Devils can really take it to TB. At least NJ gets the final change at home and can matchup how they want. I don't think it is any surprise that in the long change period at TB that the lighting were able to exploit the matchups they wanted. Now it's NJ's turn to flip the script.

The two most important factors in this game by miles will be Cory Schneider and special teams. We need Cory to get back to his typical form and we need to stop bleeding goals to Tampa's powerplay to have a strong chance. The Devils can handle themselves in the scenario that they shutdown Tampa's powerplay and get .925 (hopefully higher) performance from Cory. Taking advantage of Tampa's penalty kill would put them over the top.

Pretty obvious why they did it. With Mojo back, they don’t feel their is another top 6 spot open right now and they stick Stafford is a better bottom 6 option then Bratt. They aren’t wrong as Bratt’s game is not suited for a fourth line role at all.

I would have put Gibbons back in for Stafford though.

They are wrong about Stafford though. At no point in his career has he made an impact as a bottom 6 player. He plays his best hockey when in the top 6 role, not bottom 6 role.

Go ask Jet fans about how he was when he was in the bottom six role vs how he was when playing top 6 minutes.

Exactly. All Staff is going to do is just take up space and be another warm body on the ice. Basically, a part of the scenery.

Staff could put on a Referee's shirt and call the game, and he'd be just as effective.

I read a few posts scattered through the early parts of this thread and figured I would just save myself and skip to the end here...

LGD... I’m still proud of this team.

what exactly would bratt do besides be part of the scenery? since feb 15th (2 months, probably 20 games or so) he's got 1 goal and 1 assist. and is a minus 10.

They should of eased Mojo into the lineup and put him on a 4th line with Boyle and Bratt.
Playing Stafford & Lovejoy is totally idiotic!!
