Looking a bit deeper in the draft most likely but I like McGauley from the WHL. Top scorer in the league, yes it's juniors but still, undrafted in 2014 so not likely to go high this draft. Take a flyer on him in the 3rd round or later and he may have some positive upside.

But was Kirk considered to be a franchise level player? Eichel is.
Why do people love Zacha so much yet hate on Crouse? Zacha's production is pretty modest.

Zacha is listed at 6'3'' 214lbs as a 17 year old. That is Getzlaf big.

Yeah. The Muller/Lemieux comparison was similar to this year. Plenty of people pumping Kirk's all round play while knowing Mario was on a different level.

Apparently McDavid is even more dominating than Gretzky in the OHL. I don't know, part of me is intrigued by a Lindros type get. It would be also interesting for the Devils to get such a player.

Remember Lemieux and the drop of talent to Captain Kirk in 1984. It could be the very same in this draft with Eichel.

Wayne was playing pro in the WHA at 17 following a 182 point season. McDavid scored 165 total in two seasons at the same age.

McDavid sweepstakes is crazy. I used the simulator once and got Columbus. Just goes to show how CM could be going to a team that isn't a dumpster at the moment.

There is a 37% chance that McDavid ends up on a team that isn't in the bot 5.

What would be crazy is if COL lucks into McDavid.

Landeskog, Duchene, MacKinnon, and ROR is a pretty solid young top 6. Adding McDavid would be insane.

God, I hope not.

The Avs have enough talent as it is.

Pronman said he wouldn't be surprised if the Devils draft Provorov and I could see that. I wouldn't be that disappointed either even though the Devils need forwards tremendously.

Still want Rantanen though. His production has been truly impressive after the WJC.

Better that than an east team other than that one in Newark.

Yeah we can't be TOO picky about who we want to win the lottery besides us since there's a 93% chance at this point it's gonna be someone else. It's one thing to not want an East team to win it but if a West team wins it that doesn't really hurt us.

Just not philly or Toronto. If Columbus wins so be it.

Well with how aggressive Lou claims to want to be with trading I could imagine drafting him makes one of who we consider an untouchable kid tradable.

i rather have toronto win it than columbus.

columbus would then have Johansen/McDavid, Philly- Giroux, NYR- Brassard/Stepan, Washington-Backstrom, NYI-Tavares. And then we have Zajac/Henrique to compete with that, it would be a hard task winning in such a division with our group. So I'm really holding out hope that the Devils win the lottery or some team from the west does.

Provorov plays LD and shoots left--it would be hard to imagine that he would displace Larsson or Severson. It would make Merrill or Gelinas expendable.

I don't know much about a lot of these guys. What kind of player is Provorov? Offensive D? Two-way D?

Proporov is a two-way defenseman who is already well polished to play on the PK or the PP. Above average skater, top-notch defensive reads, but really good offensive production as well. Not too sure if his offensive production is because of a stacked Brandon team, but he is really pushing the offense a lot of nights. A really safe pick in that he is almost a guaranteed top-4 defenseman

If we some how luck into McDavid, the future of this team would be incredible.

A top five goalie in Schneider, one of the best young cores at defense, and a generational center. I would go berserk if we won the lottery.

I've never had anything against Columbus, so I'd be fine with McDavid going there. Although I'm kind of tired of every other team in our division having a #1 center, and we go to war with Zajac. God bless Trav, I know he tries, but it's just not fair to ask him to go up against the likes of Crosby, Malkin, Tavares, Backstrom, Giroux, Johansen, Staal, and possibly McDavid in this division.

For once, just please let the star center end up here. Is that so much to ask?

Honestly, and I might be crazy and people could disagree, I'd say top two goalie, three at most. Carey Price has, in my opinion, been the only better goaltender in the league than Schneider. Rask maybe as well. Rinne is having a great season no doubt, but I think having a powerhouse team attributes to that a bit. When they were slumping recently, Rinne looked pretty average. Quick simply hasn't put up elite numbers since LA's cup win in 2012. Lundqvist's GAA has been pretty good but not anything special the past 2 seasons. Schneider has put up incredible numbers on a bad team, which says a lot.

AND, if there were some secret illuminati coercion behind the league and they fixed the draft where neither Buffalo or Edmonton got the first pick to teach them a lesson not to tank or simply because EDM has too many first overalls or top picks and have done nothing with it, I could see us winning the lottery. 1) We need to get younger 2) While being in the Tri-state should help, our attendance is lower than what it should be. McDavid would pack the house every single night leading to another successful, highly-profitable franchise only raising the reputation and popularity of the sport. 3) We need that star forward. The entire league knows that. They might want to diversify and spread the wealth. (least likely scenario, hahaha). 4) We are in the Metro division (I know Columbus and Carolina are as well). Imagine all the national coverage and popularity it could bring to the sport and the viewer ratings would go up. Also, imagine the consistent match-ups throughout the year they could market. The Metro has some of the most skilled players in the world. Crosby vs McD, McD vs Ovechkin, McD vs Rangers, McD vs Giroux/Vorachek. There would be great out-of-division games too; McD vs Stamkos/Drouin, a future McD vs Eichel/Reinhart matchup (granted BUF finishes dead last for sure. A BUF-NJD game would be the next Crosby-Ovechkin rivalry on the national scale) 5) We all know McDavid already looks incredible in the black/white/red from the WJC. 6) Somewhat eluded too before, but putting him in the Metro (this could go for CAR and CBJ as well) would lead to more exciting, diverse seasons. There would be an actual neck-to-neck race for the division lead instead of consistently seeing PIT, NYR, or now even possibly NYI at the top of the standings. Diversifying the players could lead to such higher competition and increase ratings though out North America.

or I'm just imagining crazy things because I haven't had my coffee yet. One can only dream

I don't think anyone (especially the league) , aside from the Oilers, their fans and the city of Edmonton, wants McDavid to go there-including Conner himself.

I know the league (Bettman and his cronies) would not put us up on the top of the list either, I get that. They are praying for Toronto or Philly to win the lottery, even the Kings if they somehow don't make the playoffs.

However I think they also know having him in the NY Meteo tv market, there is a huge upside for the league.
Especially now that we are owned by people who have the money to properly market a superstar.
