The Ginger Ninja on the NHL's weird scheduling:
“The divisional schedule has been a little strange,” Schneider said. “We played Pittsburgh three times in a short amount of time, we didn’t see the Islanders until now. We played the Hurricanes pretty early and not again until later. It is a little bizarre. We played the Rangers twice in one week in New York.
“But this is the time of year you want to play them,” Schneider added. “It’s fun to have them here. February, March, games have a little more meaning. It ramps up the intensity of the rivalry a little bit more.”
Ginger Ninja on the Fan Event this week:
“It was, ‘Go get them,’ and ‘good lucks,’ and ‘we’ll be there,’ and ‘do me a favor…’” Schneider said. “Clearly, the fans take it very personally. There have been great series in the playoffs and that really forged the rivalry. They had one, recently (the 2012 Eastern Conference final, which the Devils won in six games) and those are memories that are made that people don’t forget.”
Zacha News from AG:
As reported on Thursday, Pavel Zacha, with a concussion, did not skate today but was able to work out off-ice on the stationary bicycle. Coach John Hynes said the 19-year-old Czech rookie, who is not dealing with his first concussion, is out against the Rangers and doubtful for Monday’s home game against the Canadiens. However, Hynes added that if Zacha continues to progress within the recovery protocol, it’s a “pretty good possibility,” he would travel with the team on Washington (Thursday) and Boston (Saturday).
First one win, then two, and then sure enough:
Here's hoping for the best for the rest of the season.
