Realistically the Tobias huge contract and their cap situation doesn't allow them to make significant additions without moving salary. They have depleted many assets. Simmons sitting out camp was apparent for over a month or two, but obviously it still impacts his attractiveness the more the story 'festers' and puts more pressure on the Sixers to get even less value in a trade.

With the Nets big additions last year, plus all the ring chasers joining. Miami made some decent moves as well. I just don't see a way barring a miraculous Simmons 'trade return haul' that keeps title hopes alive.

Unfortunately, unless Morey can pull bunnies out his ass and net a legit return vs having to fold bc of pressure....yes the Sixers process and experiment is tenuous. Morey has to stand pat and if there is any a time for the league to intervene vs orchestrating GM coups..it would be now. Simmons and Paul are taking this player power dynamic a step too far...
