I wanted to make a poll for this but I have no idea how to make one. If anyone can fill me in I will set it up, if not rank what you think the top 5 farm systems in the league are.

Mine would be:

1.) Pittsburg (Crosby/Malkin/Fleury/Whitney)
2.) Washington (Ovechkin/Semin/Emeringer/Morrison)
3.) Kings (Brown/Turkonen/Kopitar/Gleason)
4.) Rangers (Staal/Tyutin/Lundquist/Montoya/Sauer)
5.) Canadians (Perezhogin/Kostsitsyn/Price/Chipchura)

Just Falling short: Blackhawks/Predators/Ducks

These names I listed are not the only possible stars for these organizations but the ones I thought could stand out the most

Those Montreal prospects you mentioned dont merit them a top 5 status.

Kostitsyn hasnt showed much yet. Carey Price was beaten by Pogge for the WJC job. Perezhogin, after an impressive start to the season calmed down and was sent to the minors.

Buffalo IMO has some underrated prospects.

Vanek, Roy, Pominville, Zagrapan, Paille, Stafford, MacArthur, Miller

I'd say Pittsburgh.

Crosby(maybe not still considered a prospect but still a 1st year player)
Fleury(Same as Crosby)
Malkin(another franchise player, who knows, he may turn out better than Ovechkin)
Whitney(same as Crosby and Fleury)
Christensen(in my eyes he's a future stud)
Oulette(has 10 goals in the bigs in like 20 games)
Welch(a possible stud stay at home guy)
Armstrong(starting to look like a good grinder)
Talbot(ditto with Colby Armstrong, could be a great third line threesome with
Armstrong and Christensen)
Salmonsson(possible diamond in the rough)
Carcillo(rabid wolverine type, I can't wait to see this guy)
Gigoloski(another player I can't wait to see, I've seen him play a few games as a
and he looks like he'll be the next great scoring Minn. defenseman)
Letang(possible diamond in the rough)
Gergen(ditto with salmonsson)
Kennedy(a high scorer, another player I can't wait to see)
Stone(a possible Rick Tocchet clone)

and many more

Ottawa has a whole bunch of rookies playing fairly regularly this year, and they've all impressed.

1. Andrej Meszaros (21 pts, +31)
2. Patrick Eaves (10 goals in 22 games)
3. Brandon Bochenski (13 points in 19 games)
4. Christoph Schubert (plays forward and defence)
5. Chris Kelly (top notch penalty killer and energy player)
6. Ray Emery (rough stretch recently but still a strong debut)
7. Brian McGrattan (one of the best young heavyweights in the game)

Top guys who aren't playing this year include:

1. Jeff Glass (2005 Team Canada WJC Gold Medal Goaltender)
2. Alexei Kaigodorov (finished 2nd in Russian Elite League scoring last year)
3. Brian Lee (back to back Team USA WJC berths)

Habs have depth, but the group does not warrant top 5 in the league.

Price, Latendresse, Chipchura, A. Kostitsyn, Perezhogin, Emelin, Danis, Locke, Grabovsky, Lapierre, Aubin, O'Byrne, S. Kostitsyn, etc. with Higgins and Plekanec graduated.

The glaring weaknesses being defence and a projected top center.

In all honesty... sure Brassard is good and all but i doubt they will take a small center any time soon, just look at the centers they have been taking... at least 6'2 since bob gainey arrived, if anything they will want to pick James Sheppard or a defenceman like Sanguinetti or Wishart. We know timmins like speedy guys with great hockey sense... but they say they pick "the best person available" but they have to take a need here.

Brown, Gleason, and Cammalleri are going to graduate after this year. Now the Kings' key prospects are Kopitar, Tukonen, Tambellini, Grebeshkov, Petiot, Pushkarev, and Boyle

How could you leave Prucha off the Rangers list?

Theres a good shot most of those prospects won't pan out, ditto to the guy who listed 30 pens prospects.

Funk and Gragnani, there was talk at the beginning of the season that Gragnani could be playing NHL hockey sooner than expected. Kalinin could be moved if that took place. ;)

You think its fair to count J-bo as a prospect when he's played 82 games in 02-03 already? I think not.

Stajan is not a prospect anymore either.

Ottawa's team is apparently the second youngest in the league.

For a team to be successful while playing 7 rookies a game, that's impressive.

Is there anyone in the Pens system who Pens fans don't think is going to be a major star in the NHL? More of the those mentioned above will be a bust than make it ot the NHl on a regualr basis. Surprised you didn't mention Endicott, koltsov,Murley and Surovy as well.

I really like the group the Ducks have coming into the league.

Getzlaf,Perry,Lupul,Smid,Ryan,Penner

I don't think they are quite the best though.

Not to mention Pat Kaleta, who plays like Peca of the late 90s [minus the offense]. He was laying out NHLers left and right at camp.
