Can't really blame Nordstrom for that one. When a guy gets an unopposed shot right in front of Darling on the PP and there are no defensemen anywhere near that spot, it's not likely the forward that messed up. Maybe he should have rotated down quicker, but one D was way up high right next to the forward and the other D followed Barkov to the wall leaving the front wide open.

I blame them all, that was pathetic, I am particularly highlighting Nordy, because Tripp is always saying how important he is to our PK, yet somehow we get scored on like this.

I don't know who was pressuring up the blue line from our D guys, but one of Staal or Nordy had to drop down.

Meh, I'll have to watch the replay again. I don't care for Nordy, but when you are down a man, you just cannot do what I thought that defenseman did. You are already outnumbered by 1, so bunching up that high in the zone, in that spot where the Canes already have a guy means that if the puck squirts free, you are now outnumbered by 2. Expecting a forward to cover your mistake when you are already short a man might be expecting too much, but I'll watch it again.

I'm not sure why Tripp is raving about anyone on the Canes PK this year. The team is 25th in the NHL so nobody is any good right now.

Probably because he sees the entire fanbase calling Nordstrom utterly f***ing useless and feels compelled to find something good about him to highlight. Since he's literally the least productive forward in the NHL, the only other thing to talk about is his penalty killing.

But there are plenty of far more productive forwards who can kill penalties AND contribute on the scoresheet, and most teams use them to penalty kill instead of guys who are mediocre at best PK only specialists. We have guys like that too, like McGinn or half of our AHL team, but Nordy's gotta get his minutes because he's got access to the same pictures of Peters with the goat that Ryan has.

Oh I do agree that it was a wrong play by a D guy, as I said that whole PK sequence was pathetic. Maybe I am expecting way too much from our forwards in that situation, I will not argue that.

It's driving me nuts, this year we have been so much worse on PK, but Tripp keeps mentioning him all the time, stop living in past Tripp FFS.
