Man do I hate when people say, "he puts up pts, but they are all powerplay points". Guess what, those are still goals, and if a player had 1000 PP pts, they would still have 1000 pts. At the end of the game, the officials don't get together and say, well you won 5-3, but 3 were pp goals, so you actually lost 3-2.

Power play points are not the same as EV strength points though.

EV are much harder to get and a greater barometer of a players ability.

So if you had a player who had 1k pp points vs 1k ev points it's clear who the better player is.

It's true, everyone keeps forgetting that a PPG only counts for half an ESG.

McDavid was only like a 50 goal guy last season but people keep pretending he scored 60.
